<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Many of you will recall our discussions at your council meetings this past spring about our plans to conduct a review of our state-based student financial aid programs to determine whether we are using these resources for the best possible outcomes with our students</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">— enhancing access, retention and graduation rates at your campuses while maintaining instructional quality. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">I am pleased to share that during the summer, we have continued our work on this project and have recently contracted with Noel-Levitz (</FONT></SPAN><A HREF="file://www.noellevitz.com"><SPAN LANG="en-us"><U><FONT COLOR="#0000FF" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">www.noellevitz.com</FONT></U></SPAN></A><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">) to assist our efforts. Noel-Levitz is enthusiastic about the opportunity to not only evaluate the state-based aid programs from a system-wide perspective but to also conduct focus groups within the institutional enrollment management community to learn more about current practices at the campus level and to offer meaningful recommendations. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">We are currently working closely with the Noel-Levitz team to design a schedule of activities. In addition to focus group meetings, institutions will have the opportunity to participate in a light data gathering exercise that will provide Noel-Levitz with information about the participating institution’s enrollment management practices. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">All of this will culminate with a 2-day workshop conducted by Noel-Levitz in the late fall titled Best Practices in Marketing, Recruitment, Retention and the Strategic Use of Financial Aid. At the workshop we will all have the opportunity to hear about Noel-Levitz’ review of state financial aid programs and the results from their survey and focus group meetings. Noel-Levitz will also provide the most current information about enrollment management best practices. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">You will be hearing more very soon about specific schedules and opportunities to participate. We look forward to the next steps and to our work together on this important project!</FONT></SPAN></P>
