<p class="MsoNormal"><a name="body"></a>I want to let you know that Governor Stitt signed SB 1031 this morning during a press conference in the Blue Room at the State Capitol with Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, Speaker Charles McCall, Senator Roger
Thompson, and Representative Kevin Wallace. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">SB 1031 reinstates the virtual meetings exemption passed under SB 660 during the 2020 legislative session, which expired on November 15, 2020. Under the provisions of SB 1031,
<b><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">the ability to hold public meetings virtually under the Open Meeting Act will be extended:<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="background:yellow;mso-highlight:yellow">“…upon effective date of this act and until February 15, 2022, or until thirty (30) days after the expiration or termination of the state of emergency declared by the Governor to respond
to the threat of COVID-19 to the people of this state and the public’s peace, health and safety, whichever date first occurs…”</span><o:p></o:p></b></p>
