There is nothing in writing explicitly stating only 75 schools are being
tested. I thought we were all "field testing" Geography again until I
noticed we had no sessions scheduled through CTB. I called CTB who gave me
the same response. I went back through all of my OSDE documents and found
an email sent 01/31/14 with multiple updates stating there would be a
"sampling" of students. In the OSDE Test Prep In-Service ppt it states there
will be no operational test, but that is all.

I just found out yesterday that we are not scheduled to take the 7th grade
online Geography test. CTB tells me that only 75 schools in Oklahoma were
"selected" to take this test.

Have any of you received any documentation on this? I have a call out to
SDE for confirmation. I would also like a list of who the 75 are.
Also.. What great timing for CTB to be having technical issues on their
website and "scheduled maintenance" this weekend when the testing window
opens next Thursday!! I really feel like we just need to go on a testing
strike until they can get their act together!!!!! Sooooo frustrating on
all levels..

Thank you all for sharing and reinforcing that I am not alone in seeing this
ridiculousness for what it is. Also good to know that I am not going not
the only one feeling the pressure balancing the testing madness with my real
school counselor role... and and questioning an Alzheimer's diagnosis....
Every year, past several (post ace) years I relive a tornado like existence
from March 1 through May (and periods of this at other time during the year
as well). At least I know I'm not alone:).

Thank you all for sharing.

I hope that those who were allowed to attend the state rally today can
really send the message of overload. I do not think that most teachers

this counselor forum to rant to each other. It is always uplifting to know
that we are all in the same boat.

Yes, it is though my mind and body have just gone into overload and then
into shut down. It's hard to know where to start, or do I say start over?

Ditto. I am not only test coordinator, but I also teach alternative all

beginning to think that I am getting Alzheimer's because I can't keep up
with anything anymore. I was working until 8 or 9 every night but I refuse
to do it anymore. Please take testing away from us. I used to love the
testing aspect of my job, but now I hate to get emails, especially when I
have to unload content that I have just loaded. Oh, I am also the
technology coordinator. Please let us get through this testing season
because summer is just right around the corner.

Well, when I did the Webinar and they didn't know what a Portfolio was, I
lost all faith. And they say the Writing test can't be read aloud to IEP
students---not sure they know what they're talking about. And those
materials come during OCCT testing. How many people do they think are
building test coordinators because I can only stretch so far. Evidently
they have no idea how long it takes to box tests up and mail back. After a
certain point, our schedule is filled with end of year activities that we
cannot all of a sudden cancel or reschedule. Yes! Rant, Rant, Rant! Gail

Does anyone want to join me on a RANT at the rally about 3-4 testing
companies next year and all the work of the upcoming tryout tests? Too much
time and energy is being spent in Oklahoma on poorly designed tests that
make an A-F report card.

Calling all rural Oklahoma high schools, we are currently trying to
incorporate Spanish as a Foreighn Language into our class schedule. However,
we have always used the Computer Language class as out FL. We do not have
the funding necessary for either online curriculum or hiring another
teacher. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Have a great day.
