I am working on making sure all of our testing documentation is up to date by looking through OSDE's Office of Assessments monitoring checklist. It asks for a communication plan in case of emergencies. I don't really know where to start on writing one and was wondering if anyone has one they would be willing to share so I could get an idea. Thanks in advance!?

We have a plan for different emergencies.  For fire alarm it could be every pause their test and lock the room.  For tornado it might be to take up all testing materials and allow students to proceed to the designated area once everything is secure.  Is that the kind of emergency plan you need?  Our DTC just send an email to make sure we had one in place yesterday.

Yes, Ms. Trager. That is the information I am looking for. I'm just not sure how to put it all in a formal policy. I am also afraid of leaving out an emergency. I don't know how much detail to add or if it can just be short and sweet.

We just used our regular test admin manuals.  You could just find the
instructions with the tools and read it if you would like to.

You go to the A-F Report Card once you sign in. Then choose applications from the menu up top. Then click on Alternate exams/demonstrated mastery.

Counselors should go their school's single sign on located on the SDE's website. There is a video there that will show them how to use the application for exemption. The dashboard located there will allow ACT, SAT, WorkKeys, etc., scores to be entered and then will tell them if the student is exempt. I have been told this dashboard is very helpful. Some PSAT scores are already listed there. Eventually, all test scores will be shown there. (Not sure when all of this will take place. In the meantime, counselors/registrars will have to hand enter scores.)

I copied a link yesterday from SDE regarding EOI scores and transcripts.  The link is not correct.  Melissa White stated the highest attained EOI score should be placed on a student's transcript.  She said there was a memo back in Oct. that stated this link was incorrect.
Thank you Julie for stating that it is the highest EOI score.  I apologize for looking up on SDE to be sure and steering you wrong.  Melissa said they will get that link corrected.

I have noticed on the Retests, scores are given along with identifying whether they are Advanced, Proficient/Satisfactory, Limited Knowledge or Unsatisfactory. I am not certain whether this information will be available on the Spring tests. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

own for a couple of years, parents are not in the picture, how do you go
about getting financial aid for that student?  She is wanting to apply for
assistance but most everything goes off of your parents income.  Any

There's actually a box on the FAFSA for students in that situation. If she qualifies as "homeless" at your school, she can mark that box and doesn't have to use anyone's information but her own.   She may later have to get a letter from your school as documentation to verify this, but if it's legit, she can qualify for considerable grants and aid.

HELP...

I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the online training
for test administrators for DLM/Kite OAAP test administration.

Our special ed teacher has worked for hours trying pass these training
modules in order to access her student's testing information.  It looks
like there are seven sections/modules one must pass to proceed with OAAP
administration, and she has over 3 hours invested, several attempts and
only two of seven modules have been successfully completed.  We have not
even gotten to the point where we can access the student work because of
this road block.   I sat with her on the last module as she looked up and
verified correct answers from a textbook amount of printed information.
She and completed this test and submitted the answers for module 3 (for the
3rd time), the results gave no feedback other than she did not score at
least 80% and would have to try again...

I am not sure how to help her, and am in disbelief that this amount of time
is required of her to access one students test materials.  Is there
something we are missing?  This is crazy!  And there is no time to spare
this time of year.  Any advice is appreciated.

Special Education Assessments. This is the link:

On this page if you scroll down there will be a link to a pdf call
"Training Video Transcripts."

If the teacher will print the transcripts for each module, they can run the
videos on silent and read what is being said. My teachers highlighted and
made notes and then used the transcripts for the tests. I suppose that is
okay since DLM provided the transcripts. I hope this helps...I know it did
for my teachers!

The law states highest attained EOIs scores must go on the transcript. I know several districts will place "exempt" when appropriate and * or "met alt" after the proficiency rate to indicate that the student has shown proficiency somehow/someway. We list it under graduation notes for our own use and information.  Upon
graduation when the statment regarding meeting requirements is added we
then delete the note.

The DLM Modules were a little tricky. I had to take several of them several times. You aren't allowed to even be in the DLM as a test administrator until those modules are passed. The DLM help desk number is 855-277-9751. I doubt there is a way to get around having to pass those modules but maybe the help desk can give some suggestions.

I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the online training for test administrators for DLM/Kite OAAP test administration.?


Our special ed teacher has worked for hours trying pass these training modules in order to access her student's testing information. It looks like there are seven sections/modules one must pass to proceed with OAAP administration, and she has over 3 hours invested, several attempts and only two of seven modules have been successfully completed. We have not even gotten to the point where we can access the student work because of this road block. I sat with her on the last module as she looked up and verified correct answers from a textbook amount of printed information. She and completed this test and submitted the answers for module 3 (for the 3rd time), the results gave no feedback other than she did not score at least 80% and would have to try again... ?


I am not sure how to help her, and am in disbelief that this amount of time is required of her to access one students test materials. Is there something we are missing? This is crazy! And there is no time to spare this time of year. Any advice is appreciated.

*It took me several tries to pass most of them---I finally opened 2 tabs on

Composition can substitute for Composition 1 at TCC. This of course allows
them to skip Comp 1 and head straight into Composition II concurrently.

I have a student now taking Comp II at TCC who passed her AP test last year
but it looks as though she didn't take senior English 1st semester.

How are schools documenting senior English for these particular students?

We use the following for English, with one full credit per course.

English Comp I = English III
English Comp II = English IV

It is written on their transcript as the university course name. There is an asterisk by the course number, and a notation on the transcript that asterisk courses are concurrent enrollment courses.

Previously, Eng Comp I was first semester and Eng Comp II was second semester of English IV... I want us to be able to decide how we need that for each student. Right now with all of English IV coming from Eng Comp II, a senior could go into their second semester, after being unsuccessful in Eng Comp II with no senior English credit-very unsettling for a counselor. :)


We do not count an AP score for English IV.  They must either have English IV or Comp I and II or a semester of each at McAlester High School.

AP scores of 3 or better earn college credit at most area colleges (Some colleges require a 4 for college credit).  At Tulsa Public, students must take the AP course to earn high school credit.
Tulsa Community College?s Composition I earns English IV 1st semester credit.
Tulsa Community College?s Composition II earns English IV 2nd semester credit.

This just says that EOI scores have to be reflected on the transcript. It doesn't say anything about whether a course letter grade has to be given if a child wants to be granted passing credit for a failed course because they passed the EOI.

Is it up to each district how to handle that?  It concerns me that in Tulsa, we are giving "P" for "Pass" if a parent signs a letter requesting that their child be given passing credit for a failed class based on a passing EOI score, but other schools are replacing the F with  a "D" for a "Proficient" EOI score and "C" for "Advanced" EOI.

I set up an "Alternate Test" in my student information system.  We use MAS Inc. and it is set up under Setup Information.  If you don't use that student information system, it could be set up in the same place EOI scores are set up.  I put in score, proficiency level and the name of the test used to attain proficiency.  I also list my EOI students who have demonstrated mastery in this section, listing name of EOI, test score and in proficiency level add Exempt (ex:  English III, 61, Advanced/PSAT Exempt)

We don't transcribe alternate assessments. We keep the information in their permanent record/folder.



We list it under graduation notes for our own use and information.  Upon graduation when the statement regarding meeting requirements is added we then delete the note.

The law states highest attained EOIs scores must go on the transcript. I know several districts will place "exempt" when appropriate and * or "met alt" after the proficiency rate to indicate that the student has shown proficiency somehow/someway. The original grade should never be removed from a transcript. If you are replacing a failed course with a proficient test score, the competencies should be transcript in additional to the original grade earned. It should look the same as when a student failed a course, then took the course over in summer school. Both grades are reflected on the transcript. :)

On English II the max score is 66 (advance) according to the information SDE
send out before testing but when the students were given a raw score when
they finished the test it said out of 60.  English III was a max of 71 and
it gave them /60 as well.  Does anyone know what is Proficient?

Subject: [Counselors] English II & III Cut scores

I called the SDE and was told that the 6 point difference is for the writing portion of the English II test. I would assume that would be the case for the English III test as well.

Dear District Test Coordinator,

The state's online testing program is designed to provide instant feedback to students at the end of their test in the form of an immediate Raw Score (the number of test items correct) and Performance Levels for the following End-of-Instruction (EOI) exams and Grade 6-8 Reading & Math OCCTs:
*         Algebra I/II
*         Geometry
*         Biology
*         Grades 6-8 Math/Reading (this is the first year pre-equated cut scores have been made available)

The following tests will only include an immediate Raw Score:
*         English II/III (Final Raw Score & Performance level provided in 2-week reports)
*          U.S. History (Performance Levels provided in 2-week reports)
*         Grade 7 Geography (Performance Levels provided after standard setting in July 2015)

Please note: final English II and III EOI scores are based on the multiple-choice and writing components.  A student's Raw Score and Performance Level may change with the addition of the writing score.  Writing scores are provided in the 2-Week Summary Reports.  In addition, the Spring 2015 U.S. History EOI will be post-equated and performance levels will also be available on the 2-Week Summary Reports located in the OCCT Portal on June 1, 2015.

Up to 6 points can be given on the writing for English II and up to 10 points on the writing for English III.? The writing points are added to the raw score for a total raw score.? It shows which form test is assigned to each student on the Measured Progress website, if the BTC or DTC wants to look it up.? It is on the same screen as the test session information.

Freshmen --- Physical Science
Sophomore --- Biology
Junior ---- Anatomy/Physiology or Zoology or Chemistry or Environmental Science. We switch Anatomy/Physiology with Zoology every other year.

9th - Physical Science or Earth and Space
10th - Biology 1
11th and 12th - Physics, Biology 2, Forensic Science, Chemistry, Botany,
Zoology, and Human Anatomy

All are lab sciences. Most have both sheltered and honors options. Human
Anatomy and Physics are only offered as honors. Chemistry has I, II, and AP
options and may be started as a sophomore if so desired.

We are a very small district so we do not offer a lot of choices. Our freshman take Physical Science, sophomores take Biology 1, juniors take Biology 2, and seniors are offered Chemistry. We used to give science credit for Natural Resources, however, since laws have changed, we only give elective credit for it until the administration decide if they want to get a HOUSSE built for our ag teacher.

Can the writing part lower their raw score any, or does only have the
potential to increase it?

It can only add too the reading score. It will not lower it.

Dear District Test Coordinator,

The state?s online testing program is designed to provide instant feedback to students at the end of their test in the form of an immediate Raw Score (the number of test items correct) and Performance Levels for the following End-of-Instruction (EOI) exams and Grade 6-8 Reading & Math OCCTs:
?         Algebra I/II
?         Geometry
?         Biology
?         Grades 6-8 Math/Reading (this is the first year pre-equated cut scores have been made available)

The following tests will only include an immediate Raw Score:
?         English II/III (Final Raw Score & Performance level provided in 2-week reports)
?          U.S. History (Performance Levels provided in 2-week reports)
?         Grade 7 Geography (Performance Levels provided after standard setting in July 2015)

Please note: final English II and III EOI scores are based on the multiple-choice and writing components.  A student?s Raw Score and Performance Level may change with the addition of the writing score.  Writing scores are provided in the 2-Week Summary Reports.  In addition, the Spring 2015 U.S. History EOI will be post-equated and performance levels will also be available on the 2-Week Summary Reports located in the OCCT Portal on June 1, 2015.

The Lookup Tables provided through the link below may be referenced to obtain raw score ranges for each performance level for most computer-based tests:

9th - Physical Science
10th - Biology I
11th and 12th - Biology II, Anatomy &Physiology, Zoology, Chemistry I and II, Physics, Earth Science.
All of our sciences are lab sciences. We rotate upper level classes so that students can get the science courses they want.

Unless they do not write enough to be scored...  In which case they may be
scored as DNA.

We have a place for a parent signature on our pre-enrollment form not only to make sure the parent has seen and approve of the classes requested but, we have a paragraph about Ok Promise information at the bottom and a flier attached also. This helps us keep track of who has been given information about Ok Promise and which year.

We have a place for parent signature on our course request form. We don't require it, but do keep a copy. If there are complaints, we do have something to show the parent. I make a notation of what the student said, as to why there isn't a parent signature. 
(We don't hold up pre-enrollment for lack of signature.)

I have questions about PFL:
We offer PFL (Personal Financial Literacy) at our middle school for 7th &
8th graders.

Should that be counted in the hs gpa? Should it be counted as a hs credit?
Can it be considered as meeting a hs requirement, but NOT be given credit
nor counted in the gpa?

I was wondering how other schools handled this issue.

We have it at high school only, at this time.
When it is included in another class, we make sure the form is completed and ensure the required statement is on the high school transcript. The student does not receive an extra credit and the course is not listed on the transcript, it does complete the requirement. (Then, of course, the student can take it as a separate class, for grade and credit.)

We weight concurrent.  We also, for the past few years, have paid all fees, so students were not out any out of pocket expenses.  We do not allow our students to take any off campus classes.  Everything is on line for our students, with the exception of the blended class of College Algebra.  We tell parents that THEY must transport their child to take tests at the campus, if they want them to enroll in that class.  This is as fair as we can make it.

If taken as a separate class or online, we give a high school credit.  If taken with a class, we do not.  Either way, it is noted on the transcript as required.  It is not offered until 9th grade.

Hennessey HS does not give weighted credit, although we do encourage our eligible students to take college coursework.  The courses have been weighted in the past but we found that the level of difficulty varies greatly from course to course and we have no control of curriculum taught to insure it is worth that weighted designation.

We typically offer 2-3 IETV courses each semester at times that are built in to our schedule (8:00am and/or 11:00am).  On off days, students are expected to use that time to study.  We do not prohibit students from taking online or on campus courses and we will transcript it, but I don't generally recommend it unless they are unusually mature and self-motivated.

Also, we do not offer English Comp 1 or 2 through IETV because it competes with our established AP English Lit coursework.  We usually try to offer general-ed courses that will benefit the majority of students such as US
History, Am Fed Govt., Intro Psych, or College Algebra.

We weight concurrent.  We also, for the past few years, have paid all  fees, so students were not out any out of pocket expenses.  We do not allow our students to take any off campus classes.  Everything is on line for our
students, with the exception of the blended class of College Algebra.  We  tell parents that THEY must transport their child to take tests at the campus, if they want them to enroll in that class.  This is as fair as we  can make it.

We use a 5.0 scale for Honors, AP and Concurrent classes.

Lawton does not. (My "argument" has been...some students may not be able
participate in concurrent enrollment due to finances or
transportation-giving the "haves" an unfair advantage. We do try to open
honor courses to all students.)

We give the college course 5 points for an A, 4 points for a B, etc. when  calculating Val & Sal.  The grades listed on the transcript are  the grades earn from the college offering the course.
