[Counselors] Attention Middle School Counselors re: literature and language

[OSRHE EPAS PK-12 Counselor Discussion Board]

Our 6th graders have one year of language and one year of reading. Our 7th graders have 1/2 year of language and one year of reading. Our 8th graders have one year of combined ELA (similar to HS).  We had to cut TWO language teachers last year and that's why our 7th graders' language was cut from a full year to a 1/2 year. We are hoping to correct this next year.  I would love to be able to offer separate language and reading classes for 8th grade, but don't see that as being feasible.

Attention all Middle School Counselors!! We are looking at our schedule and currently have a full year of 6th grade Literature and a full year of 6th grade Language.  A full year of 7th grade Literature and a full year of 7th Language.  In 8th grade the students have 1 year of Writing/Grammar and ½ semester of Literature.  What do you do and why??
