Subject: Re: [Counselors] Testing out of state

I had a student move in as senior from Kansas. Sadly he had no act, plan or aspire scores. He has had to test in all areas this year. We utilized as much of the fall/winter we could. I felt sorry for him because he sat an entire week in testing in the beginning.

There were no equivalent Kansas scores to use for proficiency. If he has had biology and geometry in Kansas, then yes he will need to take the EOI in Oklahoma.

Another way would be to get your student to take the ACT and see how he/she scores. That could help. My student was unable to take the ACT.

But on a good note we have him ready to graduate, it wasn't easy for him but we are on track!

I had a junior student come from Kansas this year also- when I called the state dept about what EOI she would have to take, I was told I could use an ACT, PLAN, or ACT Aspire if she passed any of the area of testing. I was lucky she had taken the ACT Aspire last year & passed everything prior to what she would have taken this year

Be sure and check the out-of-state assessment list for acceptable tests. http://sde.ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/files/documents/files/Out_of_State_Assessments_8202014.pdf

I believe if he passes the English 3 it will count for both English 3 and English 2.

English III passed gives you an Alt prof score for Eng II.

I have a Junior who attended school in Kansas last year. He did not take the English 2 EOI, but will take the English 3 next week. Does he need to take the English 2 test as well? What about Biology and Geometry? He took Algebra 1 here, so he has that test.

Also, if you are testing online with chrome books, be advised that the text-to-speech feature doesn't work on all chrome books... Best to use an actual computer for students with a read aloud accommodation.

Make sure you are using the online manuals and not the hard copies because there is approx. 20+ pages that have corrections on them. If the students do not do the practice questions, then they will not receive a cut score. It is correct in the manual posted on Measured Progress site but not in hard copies that were sent.

Does a kid that passed the 3rd grade math, but repeated 3rd grade because of reading have to take the math test again?

This is the email sent to my principal from Craig Walker the head of assessment at SDE:
The raw score cuts (see scoring tables) will be similar to last years within +/- 2 points: http://sde.ok.gov/sde/assessment-administrator-resources-administrators. Social Studies is completing its 3 year phase-in, so those cuts will be greater. We are working with Measured Progress to provide 2015-16 Scoring Tables within the next week or so.

Does anyone know why the sixth grade reading didn't have permil scores at the end like they usually do? Did I miss something?
