Call 211; they have a list of agencies to help.

If you can get the grandmother to write a note giving you authority to get their birth certificates, you can go to Dept. of Vital Records and get a copy. I have done that before. We have an "angel fund" which helps people
with various things they can't afford. It's $45/cert and we used that to get them. I think there would be something similar with the Indian Cards. You could always call and check. If they were on the roll, they
could maybe get some financial assistance.
Does your school have a food pantry? (Maybe stocked partially by Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma?) That would also be a resource you could use. Also, some local churches provide assistance with clothing, hygiene, etc.

Since they are in Oklahoma City you can refer for Wraparound service through Systems of Care. They will assist the family with community resources as well as counseling, etc. Northcare is a good source for SOC referrals.

Have you tried 211? I used to work there and they have many social services like these. If not, I can look and see if I have anything else.

If you have an All America Bank branch near you, they will reimburse you for money spent on clothes, school supplies, hygiene supplies, and possible some food that you purchase for the children. you would need to call the bank and see who their contact person is for that program. I spent $500 earlier in the year to buy clothes and hygiene items for two students, and as soon as I turned the receipts into our bank branch here in Cache, they cut me a check for the full amount.

Hi LaVonne. We have a family of 6 living with their elderly grandmother. Their bio-mother was murdered. Grandmother's health is poor & she can no longer handle her grandchildren. Naturally, he doesn't want the kids to be split up. I spoke with Pepper's Ranch in Logan County. They take children who are currently in DHS custody or foster kids. They couldn't help us because our grandmother had adopted her grandchildren. Pepper's Ranch is currently full, but I'd give them a call to see if you could get on their list. I was given the name of a group called Safe Families in OKC. SF wraps around families that have no place to turn. They have a website. Just google "Safe Families" in OKC. There's an online form to fill out and a number to call. My heart goes out to your family & I'll put them in my prayers. Michele

We have a family who needs assistance with everything. They have no vehicle and are on an extremely tight budget. The grandmother is raising 3 of her grandchildren, one who is a special needs child. The granddaughter is on a ventilator. The grandmother is unable to read and write. Our program is unable to assist them because the grandmother does not have birth certificates or the Certificates of Degrees of Indian Blood for each child. Federal guidelines require us to have these for each child we assist. We have personally made donations but we can only do so much. I am wondering in anyone knows of any programs which would help them get the children's birth certificates, assist them in getting additional help for the special needs child and provide transportation to and from the doctors and other places. This family is located here in the Oklahoma City area. I'd appreciate any word of any resources available.
