[Counselors] 7th and 8th grade reading

All students at our middle school are required to take 1 hour per day of literacy and 1 hour per day of language arts.

Wilson Schools offer mandatory reading courses in grades 6-8. This year, due to constraints, we only offer 1 semester for girls and one semester for boys. It is working out really well. :)


At Beggs Middle School we only do 1 class for 7th and 8th and two classes for 5th and 6th.


Okemah Middle School does.

Fairview

At Mountain View – Gotebo our 7th and 8th graders are required to take Reading and English—two classes.

We have 7th an 8th grade reading and English as two separate classes at Velma-Alma Middle School.

We also have 7th and 8th reading and English as two separate classes at Sweetwater Schools.  We believe that it has helped with our Reading scores and English scores.

We extend our math and language arts class by 20 minutes by placing a class period between LA and Math.

Okarche offers separate English and Reading courses for 7th and 8th graders

At Wister, 7th & 8th graders are requires to take ELA which includes reading, but reading is not taught as a separate class.
