VALEDICTORIAN(S) after seven semesters (fall of senior year) must meet the above criteria and hold a weighted GPA over 4.0
The two highest weighted GPA give a Valedictory address at graduation.
Weighted classes:
5.0 scale: AP courses
4.5 scale: Concurrent Core, Pre-AP, and designated honors coursework.
The highest weighted GPA below 4.0 is named SALUTATORIAN.
In the past 10 years we have ranged from 3-14 valedictorians. The more honors classes they take, the higher the weighted GPA can be... The weighted scale is used exclusively for Val/Sal selection.
Woodward-
Valedictorians= 4.0 GPA; must take at least four AP classes and one additional math or science
Salutatorian=3.9 GPA; must take at least four AP classes and one additional math or science
We usually have about 20 Vals and 4-5 Sals.

All the students who have a 4.0 Non weighted GPA are Val's and the students who have one B are Sals. This is for high school. If they made a b in middle school even if a high school course we did not figure it in their GPA
We also include that they meet the course requirements for Honors.
Does anyone have a policy regarding valedictorians and salutatorians based off more than grades or GPA?
