No, classroom teachers will take care of their own virtual students. Are you using coursework with a teacher on the other end? No. Our AMAZING classroom teachers will be sending the same work that is being done in the classroom to our virtual students through Showbie, Seesaw, or Google Classroom. Are your teachers teaching both face to face and virtual? Yes. Each teacher has 1-3 students in their class that attend our virtual academy. Is that teacher responsible for keeping the virtual (at home) student on track? Yes, as is the parent, who signed a contract to participate in virtual schooling. Are you recording the lessons as they’re taught? Some teachers are, others are not. How are you handling grading? They will be taking grades for our virtual students just as they do in the classroom. We created a Virtual Academy this summer in which parents must sign a contract to participate in. Students must remain in the virtual academy for an entire semester. They can come to school 2nd semester if they choose. Virtual students are able to participate in any extracurricular activities that they chose. Our teachers have been creating their own content and curriculum for several years now so all students, virtual and traditional, will be getting the same thing. No, we did not hire additional staff. However, we have 4 teachers with an additional period for virtual only. Are you using coursework with a teacher on the other end? We are using Odysseware. The program does the teaching, but we are providing additional support from school staff. Are your teachers teaching both face to face and virtual? Our teachers are only teaching on site, with the program providing the virtual instruction. Is that teacher responsible for keeping the virtual (at home) student on track? Yes, each student is assigned a teacher here on campus that monitors the % of classwork done per week, we are requiring 3% of each subject be completed each week. Are you recording the lessons as they’re taught? No. How are you handling grading? The program grades most assignments, unless students are required to type in an answer, then that will need to be graded by the virtual teacher that they are assigned.
