Are you hiring a teacher to handle virtual students only?
No, we did not hire additional staff. However, we have 4 teachers with an additional period for virtual only.
Are you using coursework with a teacher on the other end?
We are using Odysseware. The program does the teaching, but we are providing additional support from school staff.
Are your teachers teaching both face to face and virtual?
Our teachers are only teaching on site, with the program providing the virtual instruction.
Is that teacher responsible for keeping the virtual (at home) student on track?
Yes, each student is assigned a teacher here on campus that monitors the % of classwork done per week, we are requiring 3% of each subject be completed each week.
Are you recording the lessons as they’re taught?
No.
             How are you handling grading?
The program grades most assignments, unless students are required to type in an answer, then that will need to be graded by the virtual teacher that they are assigned.

No, classroom teachers will take care of their own virtual students.
Are you using coursework with a teacher on the other end?
No. Our AMAZING classroom teachers will be sending the same work that is being done in the classroom to our virtual students through Showbie, Seesaw, or
Google Classroom.
Are your teachers teaching both face to face and virtual?
Yes. Each teacher has 1-3 students in their class that attend our virtual academy.
Is that teacher responsible for keeping the virtual (at home) student on track?
Yes, as is the parent, who signed a contract to participate in virtual schooling.
Are you recording the lessons as they’re taught?
Some teachers are, others are not.
             How are you handling grading?
They will be taking grades for our virtual students just as they do in the classroom.
We created a Virtual Academy this summer in which parents must sign a contract to participate in. Students must remain in the virtual academy for an
entire semester. They can come to school 2nd semester if they choose. Virtual students are able to participate in any extracurricular activities that they chose. Our
teachers have been creating their own content and curriculum for several years now so all students, virtual and traditional, will be getting the same thing.

I encourage you to check into Learn Anywhere Oklahoma - It is a Governor's Initiative, not SDE. I hadn't heard anything about it until this week. Came out August 1.
Discussed the program today with our Edmentum rep. Here is her explanation to me.
Free Courseware curriculum for ALL 6th-12th grades AND a district allocation to use Calvert curriculum K-5 and/or our EdOptions Academy Teachers! In addition, your allocation of $10,000 (this is my district amount, yours might be different $5,000-$20,000) allows you one of the following, or we can mix and match.
(my numbers are in front, yours will be different according to your allocation)

· 54 Calvert K-5 students

· 4 Full Time 6-12 students with our teacher

· 3 Full Time K-5 students with our teacher

· 40 semester courses for 6-12 students with our teacher

· 4 Teachers Ongoing Virtual Teacher Training PLC and PD

Link to allocation page https://www.learnanywhereok.org/allocation where you can find your district. There is a deadline of Sept 18.

This money is not coming from the State Department, but Governor. If the money is not claimed then my rep feels 2 things could happen. 1) Reallocate to private schools 2) Reallocate to districts that claimed in round 1.(not likely)
Even though we purchased Edgenuity platform in July I am not giving up FREE. We will use it somehow!

Our numbers of virtual students are very low. We only have 3 high school students & one elementary. We are doing totally Edgenuity for those students. Our Edgenuity teacher/myself/HS principal will be making sure they are on track. Our Edgenuity teacher will be recording grades as she does the Edgenuity students that we have on campus.

We are using Edgenuity. Our Alternative Education teachers are monitoring our Middle School and High school students.

We are using Edgenuity for our virtual students. We are not assigning a school teacher to our virtual students because Edgenuity provides instruction support. I will be monitoring the virtual students for attendance (logging on each school day) and grades which will be given to our registrar for transcription. I am the Jr High counselor.

Subject: [Counselors] Questions regarding your virtual students

I have questions regarding your students who are attending virtually:
Are you hiring a teacher to handle virtual students only?
Are you using coursework with a teacher on the other end?
Are your teachers teaching both face to face and virtual?
Is that teacher responsible for keeping the virtual (at home) student on track?
Are you recording the lessons as they’re taught?
How are you handling grading?

I appreciate any advice on any of the questions that you can offer.
Thank you!
