[Counselors] HS online enrollment

We use Power School. We meet with each student individually to discuss current grades, testing data, eligibility for concurrent, tech applications, AP Potential letter, summer school if needed, early graduation, IB diploma, OK Promise, credit checks, etc. We can also use information from their Naviance account to pre-discuss college/career planning. We go into classrooms and give presentations on the enrollment process, have them book a 15 minute appointment with us through Sign-up Genius right then, and ask them to return their completed form with parent signature during their appointment. Part of their appointment is the student entering their selections online in power school via lap top. Our enrollment form states that students will be scheduled into the courses they selected and changes cannot be made in the Fall. We create our master schedule based on what they select; therefore we only have a few changes usually due to students not getting into a class that didn't make. It takes two months to get through my roster, but it's worth it. It's extremely beneficial to meet every student at least once each year. It was also our department goal.

Is any school that does online enrollment on a block schedule? If yes does it work for you? The current program we have does not do automatic enrollment and we have to go in manually in do scheduling.

We use Infinite Campus. All of our parents enroll each summer online. We do open our school one day for those without wifi or computers or that

might need help. Then our student info is all automatically updated. They even upload their proof of residency online. Then the system allows us to approve or deny each application.

At Idabel, we use Wen-gage and we take our students during their English class to the computer lab and have them do their course requests. We try to get them all done during a class period, but we keep the program open for a couple of weeks. It certainly helps when we get ready for schedules.

We use PowerSchool and all of our enrollment is entered online. We have an enrollment day where our teachers meet with their assigned group of students and the students enter their enrollment into our online system. We have about 97% participation from our student body and incoming freshman. Parents and students do not have the ability to enroll outside of our building at this time.

I know this is a little out of our scope but we are updating our website and a lot of staff is pushing for online enrollment and so my principal and I are trying to gather information from other schools. I am wondering what schools have online enrollment? Do most/all parents enroll online? Do you have an enrollment system that updates your student information system? Any and all thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
