Good afternoon, Oklahoma Council for Indian Education (OCIE) members!

We are emailing to let you know that that the applications for the Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society (OISHS) and the three OCIE Scholarships are now open for registration at https://www.oklahoma-ocie.org/honor-society/<https://www.oklahoma-ocie.org/honor-society/>. The deadline was previously published as Friday, February 5th, but we have extended the deadline to Friday, February 26th.  Please note the eligibility requirements listed below and share this information widely among your networks. We also encourage you to post the attached flyer on your social media networks. We want to honor as many of our star Indigenous students as possible!

OISHS students must:

  *   Be a high school, undergraduate, or graduate student
  *   Have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher (weighted or unweighted)
  *   Meet the definition of Indian under the Title VI Indian Education Program, possess tribal membership identification, or be able to provide a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB).
  *   Indicate service or leadership activities
  *   Demonstrate substantive cultural participation
  *   Pay a non-refundable application fee of $15
OCIE also offers three scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students accepted into OISHS:

  *   John Sam Memorial Scholarship: for high school seniors only
  *   Alice Tonemah Memorial Scholarship: for education majors (high school seniors and undergraduate college students)
  *   Marlene LeClair/Helen Wright Scholarship: for high school seniors and undergraduate college students
