From my viewpoint, I feel students are moving in this direction due to the variables offered in a COVID-stymied world. With free tuition, it is also a way to decrease future borrowing. Our Community College has developed 4 pathways for high school students to choose from on their dual credit journey. Savvy students know that they can get a full credit in a single semester without registering and paying for annual AP test fees for many tests. Students can leave high school with a year of college credit and complete an Associate Degree the year after graduation, or matriculate to university as a sophomore. That essentially cuts out 25% of the cost of a degree with dual credits. If they stay another year at Community College, they can decrease the cost of a bachelor's degree by 50%. This generation has heard all the negatives of borrowing and college debt - they are listening and exploring options. They are increasingly choosing to complete their diploma with one foot on their HS campus and one foot on their future campus. Mary Beth Lykins, M.Ed Serving students 10-12, alpha H-Pa lykinma at tulsaschools.org Office: 918.925.1019 FAX: 918.925.1001 Absolutely! Right now it is up to local control how your district transcripts US History and Science assessments since there is not a score available. Once one becomes available it will be added to the transcript guidance from SDE. As of now, districts just need to transcribe that those two assessments were attempted and it should be in local policy the language you use to do so. I am attaching the SDE transcript guidance document for your reference. It has a lot of good information. Thanks! You can email me directly and I can get you in touch with our strength and conditioning coach ggwatts at enidk12.org Yes, we used to have a zero hour class for an AP course. The students did still earn credit for the course, it's just an extra hour available to allow students to get in an additional course that perhaps may typically not fit in their schedule due to other activities they're involved in. Tori Whitecotton, LPC, MED Carl Albert HS School Counselor Q-Z We offer this. They get credit but no grade. That is our school policy. We also take attendance, but since it is outside of our ‘school’ day it doesn’t count against them. We leave their attendance enforcement up to the coaches. We have done it for sport teams, but it was a part of that coaches requirements. I'm not sure how it would work otherwise for credit.
