We ask about the issue(s) that have brought on the behavior. We discuss its dangers. We discuss positive outlets for frustrations. (We like sports and activity based outlets.)We make time for the student to seek redirection and support during the day at school
and a "check in" with the counselor or another teacher or administrator, to keep the student accountable and on path to success. This is often a way to cry for help, so we give them as much support as we know how.
