<div dir="ltr">My daughter passed away at age 24 two months before she was to receive her master's degree. OSU awarded her degree posthumously, included her name in the program, and read her name aloud. I was allowed to accept her diploma. Her advisor also said a few words on her behalf because he knew her personally and had her in many classes. <p class="MsoNormal">It is usually an honorary diploma. I usually start the process by talking to the parent about it. I had one turn it down because the student was younger and did not have a lot of high school credits yet and they didn't feel like it would
help their healing process any. Parents of older students have accepted it and been very grateful. <u></u><u></u></p>
