Sorry about missing being here to get out a menu Friday, but I was at home doing some much needed chores as we camp out in our house waiting on getting the final repairs done (tile flooring put down) to let us move back in totally. Our menu for today includes: Spaghetti with meat sauce Whole potatoes Sweet peas Italian blend veggies Okra Garden blend rice Bread sticks Our fast food is a Fish Sandwich with French Fries. And for dessert have a piece of Strawberry Cake. Come on over and eat with us, Rhoda :-) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The National Sexual Violence Resource Center encourages nationwide involvement in raising the awareness of sexual assault. The purposes it to promote a better understanding of the devastating impact of sexual violence on individuals and society. An awareness campaign is a necessary first step in the struggle to prevent sexual violence. The Campus Violence Prevention Project's focus for this years Sexual Assault Awareness Month will be "Developing Healthy, Respectful Relationships." Please watch for flyers and events around campus during this month to promote awareness and understanding. Sexual violence is primarily a crime of power and control. It can impact all people, regardless of age, ethnicity, race or economic status. Although younger women represent the majority of victims, not all young women are at equal risk for sexual violence. Additionally, there are other populations with high rates of sexual victimization such as Native Americans, Immigrants and the elderly that are often voiceless in society and marginalized from medical, legal and social services. 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually assaulted by the age of 18. In 8 out of 10 rape cases, the victim knew the perpetrator. I will be providing information throughout the month to heighten your awareness. If you are in need of any of the services that are provided through the campus violence prevention project, please drop by or call. We are prepared to assist you. Have a great day. These students, all with a minimum of 75 points and a minimum of 2 contacts, will be turned in to the Financial Aid Office for consideration, since the federal guidelines require that students be receiving a pell and have at least $400 of unmet need. Student Support Services can only continue if our participants are active and use our services. That is why we require you have several contacts. To avoid having students pop in and say "Hi" and pop out again and expect that to be a contact, we developed the points system. Naturally cultural trips, college tours, transfer trips and workshops have more points than tutoring visits, so a student could easily have 75 points with only 2 visits. If all a student does is use the tutoring lab, then it will take several visits. Any time a student uses our program services, it is a vital source for success in class and in college. For this reason, it takes more than one or two visits for us to really help. The 30 students whose names are being sent to the Financial Aid Office will be hearing from us. All other students are invited to call or come by to discuss how you, too, can be considered for the grant next semester. We appreciate all our students and would love to help you with any problems you may be experiencing. We want to be your "GO-TO" source on campus. We encourage any suggestions you may have for making this a better program. Sue Lovett, Director Student Support Services -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The fascinating part of the science is that the computer evidence is often transparently created by the computer?s operating system without the knowledge of the computer operator. The information may actually be hidden from view. Would you be interested in such a course? Hey if you?re interested check it out. What we will cover in the course is forensics of a computer that is from a Computer Crime Scene Investigation, and it has murder involved. Well that is enough about that! I really enjoyed attending the Green Frog Festival downtown, listening to all the great music and seeing everything there was to be seen. Of course, I had to try a panini, which I think translates into "really good sandwich". Main Street looks so good that it seemed totally fitting yesterday when I was driving into town and saw a rainbow spanning the whole place. My husband and daughter went fishing yesterday and didn't catch any fish, but came home with a little fledgling baby bird. He'd gotten himself into some tall grass and couldn't take off and fly, so they brought him home and we've been feeding him worms, until we can take him out and let him fly off to take care of himself. It's a really good time of the year to get out and enjoy the nice temperatures before it gets too hot, which will happen quickly, I'm sure. Even the rain is nice to walk in. Come on, you won't melt. Get out there and enjoy life! Our menu for today includes: Goulash Mashed potatoes and gravy Green beans Creamed corn Baked potato bar Hot rolls Our fast food is Cheese Nachos. And for dessert have a piece of luscious Lemon Cake. Enjoy your day, Rhoda :-) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... April 25 Message-ID: <462F69A2.9060903@eosc.edu> Hi folks, I've heard people talk about it raining cats and dogs, but I think it rained raccoons at my house last night. (We already had cats and dogs.) There were a couple of wet raccoons on our patio eating cat food, which is okay, but when I got got rousted out at 12:30 hearing my chickens squawking about the raccoon that had gotten in the henhouse looking for a chicken dinner, I didn't think that was nearly as cute. It did give me the opportunity to get into my shed and rummage around for some props for "Oklahoma" since I was up in the middle of the night anyway. Be sure and get your tickets to see it as soon as possible, since it opens tomorrow night and you have to have a color coded ticket for whichever day you are to attend. Remember Eastern students, staff and faculty get in free, but I'm sure the Theater Dept. would appreciate a donation if you could possibly give one. Our menu for today includes: Round steak Mashed potatoes and gravy Corn on the cob Turnip greens Hot rolls Our fast food for today is PIZZA. And for dessert have a delicious piece of Cheesecake. Come on over and have lunch with us, Rhoda :-) P. S. Remember the Coffee Shop is closed til Fall. rw -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... April 26 Message-ID: <4630BC92.2040301@eosc.edu> Hi folks, It seems there's a lot going on today, with the Secretaries' Luncheon at noon, and the Aggie Banquet and the opening of "Oklahoma" this evening. Some of us will be going to the PAWS meeting tonight also. And that's just the few things I can think of right off the top of my head. I know there's a ball game too. Speaking of PAWS, yesterday evening was my evening to do "pen duty" and boy was I surprised when I started to go into one pen and saw two copperhead snakes in it, both belly-up dead, lying in the mud, and the dog that was in that pen just looking like nothing had even happened. Believe me she got a reward! If anyone needs a snake killing dog, I think we can fix you up, although, now I think we might need to keep her, since we obviously have a problem with them. Just remember to be cautious when you're outdoors, since the snakes are definitely stirring already. In my book there are only two kinds of snakes: the kind that will hurt you, and the kind that will make you hurt yourself! Our menu for today includes: Smothered steak Mashed potatoes and gravy Corn Green beans Garden blend vegetables Hot rolls Our fast food is a Chicken Patty on a Bun, with French Fries. And for dessert have a piece of German Chocolate Cake. Have a great day, Rhoda :-) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Walter O. Mason Education Foundation provides the scholarships. The Walter O. Mason Award was established by NCEOA in 1988 to honor outstanding professionals in educational opportunity programs who exemplify the life and ideals of Walter O. Mason, Jr. Mr. Mason first worked with TRIO Programs as a Senior Program Officer with the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in Dallas. At the time of his death, he was Special Assistant to the President at the University of Oklahoma. Through his leadership, TRIO professionals successfully established regional associations throughout our nation. Mr. Mason's vision guided the formation of the national TRIO movement. For application forms and information about the scholarship, please contact Sue Lovett, Johnston Hall Room 115. The amount of the scholarship is dependent upon enrollment status, (i.e. Full award for full-time enrollment. The deadline is August 10, 2007 and will be awarded after September 1. If you live off campus and can't come to the office, give me a call at 918-465-1823 and I will send you the information. We've made it to the weekend. Now what? Tonight or tomorrow night I hope you take the opportunity to go see EOSC's centennial presentation of "Oklahoma". I'm planning on going Saturday night and I'm really looking forward to it. I've had a couple of opportunities to hear some of the musical numbers and they really sound great. The "Sound Sensations" performed some of them for us yesterday at the Administrative Professionals Luncheon and did a great job. Sunday from 11:30 to 1:30 the Latimer County 4H clubs are holding their annual Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the 2007 Relay for Life at the Wilburton High School Cafeteria.. It's always a great dinner with all the spaghetti and fixings you can hold including drinks and desserts. If you aren't eating here in our Cafeteria, come on out and support this worthy cause. The cost is $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 and under. Our menu for today includes: Brisket Hamburger steak Crispy cubed potatoes Baked beans Corn Sweet peas Garden blend rice Macaroni and cheese Our fast food is PIZZA. And for dessert have a piece of Cobbler. Have a great weekend, Rhoda :-) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... April 30 Message-ID: <46360683.70100@eosc.edu> Hi folks, Better get your raincoat out, even though the temperature is supposed to be nice this week, there's a chance of rain every day. I guess some of our April showers are arriving a little late. If you didn't get to see our Theater Dept.'s production of "Oklahoma" last week, you really missed a great show! I confess, I had never seen "Oklahoma" before, and had no idea of the story line, so it was all new to me, and I really enjoyed seeing and hearing our students, staff, faculty, and even some family members, along with area residents put it on. Everything came together for a wonderful performance, and all involved deserve our sincerest congratulations. (I really enjoyed getting to see Jayna Miller Santine, the late president Dr. Miller's daughter, who played "Aunt Eller". We went to school together and I hadn't seen her in years. She and all the cast did a wonderful job.) Our menu for today includes: Chicken marsala served over noodles Mashed potatoes and gravy Sweet peas Carrots Rice Baked potato bar Hot rolls Our fast food is Corn Dogs and French Fries. And for dessert we're going to shake you up with some Earthquake Cake. Come on over, Rhoda ;-) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
