This is so that students and staff who live in apartments, who do not have designated parking areas, have at least one space guaranteed to them. If these individuals return home and need to unload groceries, etc. they need to be able to park near their apartment. All other housing areas such as Miller Hall and Regents Court have a designated parking area. We do realize that Regents Court parking is limited and steps are being taken to address that issue. Spaces marked specifically for Regents Court will not be enforced and those spaces will have their markings removed. These spaces were not supposed to have been marked as they are open to anyone in Regents Court. There are some additional spaces, not designated for apartments, that can also be utilized by students living in Regents Court. Please be patient as we make this transition. Thank you. The Constitution contains a preamble and seven articles that describe the way the government is structured and how it operates. The first three articles establish the three branches of government and their powers: Legislative (Congress), Executive (office of the President,) and Judicial (Federal court system). A system of checks and balances prevents any one of these separate powers from becoming dominant. Articles four through seven describe the relationship of the states to the Federal Government, establish the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, and define the amendment and ratification processes. Beginning with this email, I will be sending out a monthly safety email to all Mountaineers. These emails will be different from month to month and will contain safety tips that you should follow while on campus or anywhere you will be. Below are a few tips to follow for your residence: - Always lock your car and your room. Students will commonly leave their door unlocked if they are expecting a visitor or if they are going to be away for just a minute. Many thefts occur when the student is away from their room for just a few minutes. Do not loan out your key. - Always lock your doors and 1st and 2nd floor windows at night. Never compromise your safety for a roommate who asks you to leave the door unlocked. - Never give your keys or your student ID to anyone, even if they are your best friend. With your room keys, they can enter your room at any time that they want. With your student ID, anyone who has it can use your meal plans as they please. - Residence Halls have a central entrance/exit lobby where nighttime access is monitored. - Do not leave your identification, wallets, checkbooks, jewelry, cameras, and other valuables in open view. Avoid displaying large amounts of cash or other tempting targets such as jewelry or expensive clothing. - Program your phone's speed dial memory with emergency numbers that include “911 and family and friends. - Know your neighbors and don't be reluctant to report illegal activities and suspicious loitering. Remember if you need to contact campus police call (918) 448-2365 if it is an emergency dial 911. -- v/r Alton L. Each year, we publish and distribute a report on crime statistics for the past 3 years (2014-2016). In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and The Violence Against Women Act‎ , we publish statistics for certain crimes that occurred on campus or non-campus property in the past 3 years. The new statistics can be reviewed at: http://ope.ed.gov/security and have been provided in the attached ANNUAL SECURITY REPORT AND ANNUAL FIRE SAFETY REPORT (ASR) which will also be made available on our website at: www.eosc.edu/safety The EOSC Police Department prepares this report to comply with the Clery Act. This report is prepared in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies in the area, Housing and Student Development, additional security authorities and other departments which may have information necessary to comply with the Clery Act. Each entity provides updated information on their educational efforts and programs to comply with the Act. Campus crime, arrests and referral statistics include those reported to the Campus Police, designated campus officials (including but not limited to campus security authorities), and local law enforcement agencies. Crime statistics are collected from public property immediately adjacent to campus and all off campus locations either owned or controlled by the college. Copies of this report may be obtained at Student Services, Student Center Room 208. In accordance with the guidelines established by Eastern Oklahoma State College, and pursuant to the federal law 34 CFR 668.49(b), all currently enrolled students, campus employees and all prospective students and prospective employees of Eastern Oklahoma State College are entitled to request and receive a copy of the Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report. The report contains statistics about the number of fires in on-campus housing, the cause of each fire, the number of injuries and deaths, and the value of property damaged. The report also includes a description of fire systems, the number of fire drills, evacuation procedures, education and training programs, future plans for fire safety improvements, and the institutions policies on appliances, smoking, open flames, and other potential hazards. Emergency notifications: Eastern’s Campus Police will notify learners, staff, and faculty of potential threats and emergencies through various forms of communication, including emails, RAVE Alert notifications, or other media as appropriate. Notifications will be disseminated, without delay, unless issuing a notification may compromise efforts to assist a victim, or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency. -- v/r Alton L.
