This responsibility demands implementation of programs and services to facilitate that effort. The college is committed to a program to prevent the abuse of alcohol and the illegal use of drugs and alcohol by its students and employees. Eastern prohibits the illegal use of drugs (including medical marijuana, edibles and products containing marijuana) and alcohol in the workplace, on college property, in college housing, in college vehicles or as part of any college-sponsored activities. To meet these responsibilities, Eastern Oklahoma State College: · Requires all students and employees to abide by the terms of this policy as a condition of an initial and continued enrollment or employment. · Recognizes that the illegal use of drugs and alcohol is in direct violation of local, state, and federal laws as well as college policies set forth within this policy, the staff and faculty handbooks, and the Student Code of Conduct. College policy strictly prohibits the illegal use, possession, manufacture, dispensing, or distribution of alcohol, drugs or controlled substances in the workplace, on its premises, or as a part of any university-sponsored activities. · Considers a violation of this policy to be a major offense, which can result in requirement for satisfactory participation in a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program, referral for criminal prosecution, and/or immediate disciplinary action up to and including termination from employment and suspension or expulsion from the college. A criminal conviction is not required for sanctions to be imposed upon an employee or student for violations of this policy. · Recognizes that violations of applicable local, state and federal laws may subject a student or employee to a variety of legal sanctions including but not limited to fines, incarceration, imprisonment and/or community service requirements. Convictions become a part of an individual’s criminal record and may prohibit certain career and professional opportunities. Requires an employee to notify his or her supervisor in writing of a criminal conviction for drug or alcohol related offenses occurring in the workplace no later than five calendar days following the conviction. Forbids an employee from performing sensitive safety functions while a prohibited drug(s) is in his or her system. *Referral and Hotline Information* Latimer County Health Department 918-465-5673 National Institution on Drug Abuse 1-800-662-HELP (Information and Referral line) National Alcohol & Drug Abuse Hotline 1-800-234-0420 Cocaine Helpline 1-800-COCAINE Tobacco Helpline 1-800-784-8669 Thank you, -- London White Director of Student Life Eastern Oklahoma State College 1301 W Main Wilburton, OK 74578 P. 918.465.1767 F. 918.465.4455 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that could indicate terrorism or terrorism-related crime. This includes, but is not limited to: - *Unusual items or situations:* A vehicle is parked in an odd location, a package/luggage that has been left unattended, a window/door that has been left open that is usually closed, or other out-of-the-ordinary situations; - *Eliciting information:* A person questions individuals at a level beyond curiosity about a building’s purpose, operations, security procedures and/or personnel, shift changes, etc; - *Observation/surveillance:* Someone pays unusual attention to facilities or buildings beyond a casual or professional interest. This includes extended loitering without explanation (particularly in concealed locations); unusual, repeated, and/or prolonged observation of a building (e.g., with binoculars or video camera); taking notes or measurements; counting paces; sketching floor plans, etc. Some of these activities could be innocent—it's up to law enforcement to determine whether the behavior warrants investigation. The activities above are not all-inclusive but have been compiled based on studies of pre-operational aspects of both successful and thwarted terrorist events over several years. For a lot of southeast Oklahomans, autumn is the season we look forward to the most. Finally, hunting season! Here are a few tips for all outdoorsmen and women: - Know what you are hunting for. - Receive permission on the property you plan to hunt. - Check that all equipment (i.e. bows, guns, stands, atv’s, etc.) are maintained and functioning properly. - Let someone know where you plan on hunting, hiking, camping, or fishing, and how they can get there. If possible, do not go out alone. - Always wear the legal amount of safety orange clothing (even if you are not hunting, there may be others that are and mistake you for game). - Know what you are shooting at ( always identify your target and what is beyond your target). - Properly dispose of any carcasses. - Stay hydrated. - Unload your weapons in a safe direction prior to stowing it in your vehicle. - Always plan for the worst. Have a basic survival kit with you. - ENSURE your phone is charged and waterproofed. Enjoy this nice cool weather, be safe, and good luck. -- Alton L.
