<p>The winner of the search for the first “Eastern Idol” ended Thursday
evening as the duo of <b>Justin Eubanks & Jason Stringfellow</b> was
named winner of the title! Jason is a sophomore Ag Communications major
from Moss and Justin is s sophomore Forestry & Soils major from Stilwell.
The duo performed “17” while playing guitars. The winners received a trophy
and a bouquet of flowers.
<p>Eastern Idol finalists were Veronica Allen, Wilburton freshman Music
major; Ashley Holsten, freshman Music major from Wilburton; Laurin Masten,
freshman Journalism/International Studies major from McAlester; Vanessa
Tillery, sophomore Psychology major from Wilburton; and Kyle Williams,
sophomore Psychology major from Wilburton.
<p>The PBL-sponsored event raised over $400 for the KiBois Women’s Shelter
for abused and battered women. Special thanks to the judges for the two-day
event, Dougo Sims, Ruth Brelsford, Ashley Jackson and Liz Yeager. Carly
Jones was a master emcee. Thanks to Lucy Moore, Cody Henry, Jimmy Nabors,
Rachel McClure, Keith Lewis, Jennifer Mack, and Amy Fair. Special thanks
to local merchants Jerri Marley of Talbot Flowers and Gifts and Sunny Cullums
of The Trophy Shop, and Dan Stone and EOSC Horticulture Department.
