And the winner is... No, I'm not talking about the Academy Awards, not
the Emmys, the Oscars, the Tonys or what have you. Eastern's own
version of the best of the best has been decided for another year, with
<b>Mr. Keith Lewis</b>, our Multimedia Communications Manager, and a 34
year EOSC veteran, being named the <b>winner of the J. C. Hunt Award</b>
for the professional or support staff employee who has exhibited
exemplary service as recognized by their peers, and <b>Mrs. Ruth</b><b>
(Askew) Brelsford</b>, Speech Instructor, Honors Program Coordinator,
and Department Chair, being named <b>recipient of the President's
Excellence in Teaching</b><b> Award.</b> She's a relative short-timer
compared to Keith, having been employed with Eastern only since 1999,
but she's definitely made a tremendous positive impact on many lives in
that span of time, and is now getting the recognition she deserves.
Congratulations to both of these wonderful people!<br>

Several things will be happening on campus today and this evening,
starting with <b>Dr. Najwa Raouda speaking in the President's Dining
room at 3:00</b> on current events in the Muslim world and how that
affects all of us. <b>At 4:30</b> she will compare and contrast her
own book, THE FEMININE VOICE OF ISLAM: Muslim Women in America, to two
other popular books on college campuses today, <b>and at 7:30</b>, she
will read from her book and have copies available for signing. Cookies
and punch will be provided and served by Latimer County Arts Council
members.<br>
<br>
Fiddler/violin player extraordinaire, <b>Michael Ginsburg will be
delivering a short but meaningful anti-drug message to dorm residents
at 6:00 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium</b>, and <b>auditions for</b> the
upcoming performance of <b>Grease</b> will take place<b> from 6:30 to
10:30 in the Pratt Little Theatre.<br>
