Wow! I just looked at the extended forecast on the Weather Channel on
my computer and the upcoming temperatures look like a string of <u>really
good grades</u>, but <u>really bad temperatures</u>. Lots of 100's
and high 90's coming. Be sure and take precautions to stay hydrated if
you <u>have</u> to be out in this heat. (It's a much better idea to
get any outside activities taken care of early when it's still somewhat
cool, or late, when the sun starts going down.) And keep plenty of
water out for any outdoor pets you may have. It's much better to bring
them in during extreme weather like this, but that isn't always
possible, so be sure and try and make them as comfortable as possible.
Make sure they have some shade to lie in to get out of the sun during
the day. I've even heard of people putting sunblock on the noses of
white dogs as they tend to sunburn just like people do. <br>
<br>
There will be a <b>Staff Council meeting this afternoon at 2:00 in the
Library Conference Room </b>if anyone is interested in attending. We
will be discussing the upcoming picnic, and the planned Blue and Gold
Rush fundraiser, among other things.<br>
<br>
<b>Birthdays</b> in our EOSC family this weekend include <b>Lynn
Hackworth</b>, Executive Assistant to Vice President LaDonna Howell,
who will celebrate her big day <b>tomorrow</b>, and Math Instructor
and Wilburton City Councilman, <b>Terry Haynes</b> will be celebrating
his birthday on <b>Saturday</b>. <br>
<br>
Most of our Upward Bound kids will be leaving after this week, but
there will still be a few with us until the regular summer semester
ends, as they are getting a jump on college by squeezing in a summer
class before the regular fall semester begins.<br>
