<p class="MsoNormal">Dear students,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You may have heard or seen in the news that Eastern has been
asked to repay a significant amount of federal financial aid to the U.S.
Department of Education (DoE). This is a result of a program review that was
conducted last year and Eastern plans to appeal the Department’s report. You
can read more about this situation on Eastern’s website under the news section.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal">How does this affect you as a current Eastern student? In
response to the DoE’s program review, Eastern’s federal financial aid has been
restricted to a reimbursement system and the college has been required to
change its policies and procedures. This may cause delays in the disbursement of
some financial aid and student loans this semester. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal">I want to assure you that Eastern staff are working
diligently with the DoE to address the situation as quickly as possible. As
Eastern receives the federal funds from the Department of Education, there will
be a systematic approach to the disbursement of funds to you, our students. The
funds will be disbursed by the different types of financial aid received (grants,
student loans, etc.). </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal">We are working diligently with the DoE to be removed from the reimbursement
system so that these delays will not happen. If you have any questions
