has announced a special faculty forum and open house on September 22 to
celebrate the grand opening of the Institute for Teaching and Learning
Excellence (ITLE). ITLE has been created through the merger of Educational
Television Services (ETS), the <st1:place

wide variety of services to the OSU faculty, including pedagogical and technical
assistance geared for both early-career and experienced faculty members.

program on copyright law and intellectual property rights. The presenter
will be Ken Salomon, a member of the Communications Practices Group of the

</SPAN></FONT>was one of the principal negotiators for the higher education
community in developing the statutory language adopted by Congress in the
Technology, Education and Copyright Enhancement (TEACH) Act of 2002, the new law
that governs the use of copyrighted materials in online courses. <FONT
color=black><SPAN style="COLOR: black">Mr. Salomon works closely with national
higher education organizations, such as the American Council on Education, the
American Association of Community Colleges, the Association of American
Universities, the National Association of State Universities and <st1:place

Institute for Telecommunications advisory Board. Joining Mr. Salomon will
be Scott Fern from the OSU Legal Counsel, to address how <st1:place

will discuss an NSF-funded program entitled <B><I><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-STYLE: italic">Engineering Students for the
21<SUP>st</SUP> Century</SPAN></I></B>. This program is focusing on ten
electrical engineering courses, with the goal of transitioning from
knowledge-based to development-based programs. Too often, students learn
behaviors that let them succeed in class, but these behaviors are not always
needed to succeed in their career. This process seeks to increase the
knowledge content of a program without increasing time to graduation. It
also seeks to engage both current and future faculty in integrating scholarship
back into teaching. Come early to guarantee yourself a seat to hear about
this model for improving the teaching/learning
