in the United States have been offering comprehensive communications services
in campus dorms that include high speed Internet, cable television, and
telephone services (local line, long distance, and voice mail in some cases).
With students migrating to other forms of personal communications such at cell
phones and text messaging, campuses are re-evaluating the need for telephone
lines in the dorms.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

(Assistant Provost/Assistant VP) and Chief Technology Officer at the University
of Notre Dame. In this capacity, he has operational oversight of the IT
infrastructure and serves as the University’s chief IT strategist. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Dr. Latimer has been a leader in higher education's national networking efforts
and has played a key role in shaping higher education's position on national
information technology policy issues. He serves on numerous national and
EDUCAUSE committees, has served as a member of the SAC Board of Directors and
past program chair, past fellow for the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research
(ECAR), and past co-chair of the EDUCAUSE Net@EDU Wireless Working Group. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

In his professional career than spans two decades, Dr. Latimer was previously
Executive Director of Statewide IT Infrastructure for The University of
Tennessee, Director of Academic Computing and Technology at Kent State
University and Director of Information Technology, Clemson University College
of Engineering and Sciences. Latimer received a BS and MS degree in Mechanical
Engineering from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Education (with a
concentration in Higher Education Administration) from The University of
Tennessee.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC). Walt is also the Chair of the
Internet2 VoIP Working Group, the President Elect for the Association for
Communications Professional in Higher Education (ACUTA), a member of the State
of Texas Telecommunications Planning Oversight Council (TPOC) and a Board
member for the SIP Foundry, an Open Source SIP Organization. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
