Concurrent Resolution describing Oklahoma Historical Society competition to
select official Rock and Roll Song; specifying how and when nominated songs
shall be narrowed by an expert panel; specifying composition of expert panel;
specifying that the public will be allowed to vote for the official <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>Rock and Roll Song</span></b>; providing that winning
song will be presented to the Oklahoma Legislature in 2009.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>WHEREAS,
the Oklahoma Legislature has adopted a State Folk Song (“Oklahoma
Hills”, Jack and Woody Guthrie, adopted 2001), a State Country and
Western Song (“Faded Love”, Bob Wills, adopted 1988), and an
official State Song (“<st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oklahoma</st1:place></st1:State>”,
Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, adopted 1953); and<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>WHEREAS,
Oklahoma has been home to many exceptional rock and roll performers and song
writers and no official Rock and Roll Song has been adopted; and<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>WHEREAS,
the people of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oklahoma</st1:place></st1:State>
should be integral in selecting the official Rock and Roll Song; and<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>WHEREAS,
in 2009, the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Oklahoma</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceName w:st="on">History</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
will celebrate the state’s rock and roll heritage in an exhibit entitled
