The Langston University KAPLAN GRE Prep course begins on February 22, 2012 - April 14, 2012.  The course is designed to prepare Langston University students for the GRE. The course is taught by a Kaplan Certified Instructor. This course is for Math, Science, Computer Science, and Technology Majors. There is NO COST to the student. The course is on Wedns 6:00pm to 8:30pm and Sats 10:00am to 12:30pm. in Jones Hall 200. Student must be able to attend all sessions.

I hope this message reaches all of you in great and healthy frame of mind as
you continue to go about your daily duties and avocations at Dear Langston.
The following link is a search engine powered by Yahoo (www.goodsearch.com).
If you select Langston University as the charity, every time you do a search
(with a few exceptions) LU will receive money ($0.01). I started using it
last week, and the first day I earned 5 cents just by doing a couple of
searches throughout the course of my normal work. I know that doesn't sound
like a lot, but imagine if all of us (and all of our friends) did this every
day. It doesn't take any effort and it won't cost you a dime, except for a
little time.    

Last week by using www.goodsearch.com as my search engine through work week
instead of Google (and by using the GoodShop entrance to JCPenney to make a
small purchase) I have earned $2.57 for the Langston University Foundation!
Imagine if all of us were using this - $1/week just for searching with 100
people doing this we could reach $5,000 with no effort! Now imagine it was
1,000 people...I encourage you to give this a try!  Thank you in advance.

March 25-28 2012 ?National Dialogue on Blacks in Higher Education Conference 

 
On Wednesday March 27th 2012, NAFEO is calling all HBCU and PBI students to join us on Capitol Hill as we "Lift Every Voice to be Heard" at the 2012 NAFEO Student Advocacy Training Institute.
The highlight of NAFEO Student Advocacy Training Institute will take place in Washington, DC, March 27th 2012 as part of NAFEO's 38th National Dialogue on Blacks in Higher Education Conference (March 25-28).  The theme for this year?s conference is, "HBCUs and PBIs, Tooting our Horns a Little Louder." We are proud to announce that the student registration fee for the conference has been waived for a LIMITED TIME ONLY.  Register now at http://www.nafeo.org/dialogue/ to reserve your spot. Space is limited. (You must be registered for the conference to attend all Hill Day events)
 The NAFEO Student Advocacy Training Institute will involve training sessions on how to effectively impact congressional legislation and appropriations. Members of Congress and congressional legislative aides will be on hand to share best practices for effective advocacy, as well as to provide career advice for students who are interested in working on the Hill. Lastly, the Student Advocacy Institute will engage student leaders and arm them with vital voter protection education and training that they can take back to their campuses to empower other students to vote and become civically engaged in the height of the 2012 election season.
Student voices are needed now more than ever at any time in recent history to argue the case for sustained funding for HBCUs and PBIs and the range of federal education programs that support educational excellence and equity. With the 112th Congress threatening to eviscerate HBCU and PBI programs; the possible elimination of the Pell Grant and other need-based financial aid; with TRIO, GEAR UP and additional student preparation, inspiration and retention initiatives on the chopping block, HBCU and PBI leaders, administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, Greek Letter associations and others must demonstrate to Congress the broad and unyielding support for adequate funding for HBCUs and PBIs, as well as the value proposition of these economic and intellectual engines of their communities.
