Hello Colleagues,

We are gearing up for our upcoming Faculty Development sessions in the months of March and April. There are a variety of topics, listed below, to choose from. We are also looking for additional presentations for next year and plan to offer an even larger variety of topics to the faculty. Feel free to contact Dr. Marsha Herron (466-3267 or mdherron at langston.edu) for additional information about presentations.

The sessions will be featured in the order they appear:

Ahondju Umadjela, MS, RD/LD
Health Eating for Academic Success
Thursday, March 27, 2014 - Allied Health Room 103 @11:00 am

Session Synopsis: Research shows that a relationship exists between overall well-being and academic success. Although well-being is a general term that indicates a state of being healthy, happy, or successful (Merriam-Webster Online, 2014), there are some steps that need to be taken in order to be healthy, happy, or successful. One of the most important steps is healthy nutrition. Healthy nutrition contributes to a person’s well-being because you are what you eat. This presentation will provide practical healthy eating tips for academic success.

Thursday, April 10, 2014 - Allied Health Room 103 @11:00 am

Mid-Course Adjustments Getting and Using Student Feedback Mid-Semester
Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - Allied Health Room 103 @11:00am

Sessions Synopsis: Traditionally, student evaluations are administered at the end of the semester. End of semester student evaluations can provide useful information for modifying, planning, or redesigning a course for the next semester. However, current students do not benefit from end of semester evaluations. This training will provide information on the benefits of administering student evaluations mid-semester and discuss ways to collect and utilize mid-semester evaluations.
