National Park Service regulations require that a qualified state review board (in Oklahoma, the HPRC) participate in the SHPO's programs. Under Oklahoma statutes, the Governor appoints the HPRC membership. During each meeting, the HPRC hears presentations on
nominations to the NRHP from SHPO staff and consultants, receives comments from owners of properties proposed for nomination, listens to public comments and concerns, and formulates recommendations to the SHPO about whether or not a property should be nominated.
Concerned citizens and preservation professionals are invited to participate in this important component of the statewide preservation program.
