and revitalization is the responsibility of both sectors. Neither can, or should, support the revitalization initiative single-handedly. Any organization, agency, or individual who might benefit from the district’s revitalization should consider investing
the program. Actually, the Main Street program lessens the burden on local government to “turn around downtown” or reinvigorate the district because the Executive Director is generally the sole paid employee. You help mobilize a small army of volunteers
who take on revitalization for free. Can you imagine what the cost would be to the city for all the work you, the board, the committees, and volunteers do? Oklahoma’s ROI is $120 to $1, and the city is getting a heck of a deal.
