<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial Narrow","sans-serif"">The State Regents staff are currently examining our policy related to the awarding of credit for prior learning, specifically Policy 3.15.3(B), which reads:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial Narrow","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:.5in"><i><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial Narrow","sans-serif"">Credit awarded to a student for prior learning must be validated by successful completion of 12 or more semester hours at the awarding institution
before being placed on the student's official transcript. An institutional policy exception to this provision must be requested by the institution and approved by the State Regents.<o:p></o:p></span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial Narrow","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial Narrow","sans-serif"">As you are no doubt aware, under this policy, credit for prior learning such as AP, CLEP, military training, etc. cannot currently be transcripted until after the students
earns 12 hours at the institution. Since several institutions have requested exceptions to the policy, we are examining whether it should be discarded altogether or if it serves any useful purpose.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
