<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">We have the pre-reqs and co-reqs programmed into our administrative system, POISE a.k.a. Jenzabar PX, through a file called ‘CATALOG’ that blocks enrollments where the conditions like pre-req or age are not met.
Students are not allowed to enroll themselves in any developmental course – the students work with their instructor, primarily, and a Student Services advisor to determine if they can ‘skip’ a developmental course in our sequencing. Students may be allowed
to skip a developmental English or reading class if they made significant progress in the first class; students are rarely allowed to skip developmental math courses. We also block enrollment to what we call our ‘gateway’ college courses, English Comp I and
College Algebra. This is primarily because we did not want students to self-advise and get themselves into a class they were not ready for, based on an ACT or COMPASS test score or developmental course sequencing. Hope this helps, and let me know if you
