Are you interested in participating in a local version of a national
effort designed to target and assist first-generation college going
families? If the answer is yes, then please join your colleagues in
the 5th year of the Oklahoma College Goal Sunday program!

How does this program work?

College Goal Sunday (CGS) is a national initiative, supported by the
Lumina Foundation, the National Association of Student Financial Aid
Administrators (NASFAA) and states throughout the country, including
Oklahoma. Participating schools provide families with assistance in
completing the FAFSA and provide important information about the college
experience. Many attendees are first-generation college-going families
who may be intimidated by traditional college events. Therefore, it's
always helpful to have staff from student support departments and
programs available to assist attendees. Additional information about
the national program is available at
http://www.collegegoalsundayusa.org/ .

When will these events occur? February 11, 2007 (afternoon)

What type of support is provided for Oklahoma CGS sites?

The Oklahoma College Goal Sunday program provides a variety of services
and materials designed to support our local CGS sites. These free
services include a variety of publicity tools and centralized program
management that includes direct mailings and a Web site presence.

Examples of free CGS Site support include:

Oklahoma College Goal Sunday Web site that includes Oklahoma site
listings and information
Statewide press release highlighting the Oklahoma CGS program
Advertising flyers
Drop Ads in a variety of sizes
Public Service Announcements
CGS T-shirts for all volunteers
Direct mailings to a wide variety of audiences including: High school
counselors, principals, Boys & Girls Club organizations, Big
Brothers/Little Sisters groups, faith-based organizations, workforce
development sites, public libraries, tribal offices and foster youth
organizations.

Additionally, the Oklahoma CGS program provides grants in the amount of
$1,500 per site to be used to craft a local publicity campaign for the
school's CGS site. The combination of a statewide publicity campaign
matched with local efforts helps ensure maximum attendance at Oklahoma
CGS events.

How do I apply to host a 2007 Oklahoma College Goal Sunday site?

1) If you are interested in participating this year as a CGS site or
need additional program information, please contact Rick Edington at
redington at ogslp.org or (405) 234-4333.

2) Apply for a publicity grant. In Oklahoma, grant dollars provided
by Lumina Foundation are distributed equally to all sites and are to be
used to promote their CGS event. For the 2007 program, each site is
eligible to apply for a publicity grant in the amount of $1,500. To
apply for a publicity grant please complete a publicity grant
application which is available at http://www.ogslp.org/CGS/ .

2006 to:
