From jprior at eoctech.org Wed Oct 4 15:11:45 2006 From: jprior at eoctech.org (Janie Prior) Date: Wed Oct 4 15:10:31 2006 Subject: [Oasfaa] Entertainment for Fall 2006 OASFAA Conference! Message-ID: <45241581.6040508@eoctech.org> Hello OASFAA!! The Entertainment Committee hopes you're making plans to "get your kicks along Route 66" at the Incredible Pizza Co. (IPC) on Thursday evening! It should be a fun evening with something for everyone! Each OASFAA member will receive a $20 gift card which will includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and drink plus $17 for games. OASFAA members, you will need to bring along your name badge to Incredible Pizza in order to receive the group rate. If you would like to bring along spouses, children and/or friends (and we encourage you to do so), they will be able to purchase the buffet, drink and games at regular prices. You will find the regular prices listed in the brochure which is included in your conference packet. The brochure also includes a map and instructions on how to use your card for the games and redeem your tickets. The all-you-can-eat buffet includes a pizza bar, salad/soup/potato bar, pasta bar, dessert bar and soft drinks. The games vary in cost and include Mini-Golf along Route 66, bumper cars, go-kart races, bowling, video games and arcade games. There is the Starlight Drive-In which is a large dining room and is set up just like being at the drive-in. This room has been reserved for OASFAA from 6-9 p.m. For those who may not want to play games, you may eat your dinner and then watch "Oklahoma" on the big screen TV! We will load the buses from 5:15pm to 5:30pm at the main entrance of the Conference Center. For those who ride the bus and don't wish to stay all evening, the buses will make a shuttle run back to the Convention Center leaving the IPC around 7:45pm. For more information, you may email me at jprior@eoctech.org and view their website at www.ipcwarracres.com ! COME ENJOY THE FOOD, FUN AND FELLOWSHIP!! The spreadsheet also provides end of year awards data for 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 for your use in comparing with 2006-2007 awards to date. Awarding cutoff dates applicable to each year appear in red font at the top of the columns. At this time we ask that participating institutions review their award totals, and if you find that you have additional 2006-2007 awards to submit for approval and payment, that your Award Claim Form be forwarded to the OTAG office without delay. If you need a pre-populated Award Claim Form, please send a request to reports@otag.org or call 877.662.6231. The remaining schedule for fall 2006 is as follows: * November 10, 2006: No further requests for awards, or for increases of individual awards already disbursed, for the fall 2006 semester will be accepted after November 10, 2006. Requests for exceptions due to extraordinary circumstances may be granted only upon approval of the Chancellor for Higher Education and must be submitted in writing to the Chancellor. * November 28, 2006: Institutions shall notify the State Regents of any pending refunds that have not already been returned to the State Regents. * December 1, 2006: The State Regents shall announce any changes in awarding criteria for the Spring 2007 semester. Be aware that the November 10 final deadline for fall award claims applies not only to new award requests, but also to requests for additional funds to adjust previously disbursed amounts for any of your students. If you wait until November 10 to submit initial award requests for any of your students, there will not be a later opportunity to request additional funds to accommodate adjustments to their previously disbursed amounts. Please contact me if you have questions regarding the OTAG deadlines for fall 2006 award claims reporting. <> *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P. The on-line registration site is up and ready for you to register, go ton the OASFAA home page & select 'NASFAA Fall Workshop-updated 10/17/06". The OASFAA home page address is: http://www.finaidapps.ou.edu/OASFAA/index.html A few things: a) there is no cost for the workshop. There is also no lunch with the workshop, so don't forget to bring your milk money, you'll have to go off-campus to eat lunch. b) OASFAA is giving each school ONE free set of materials. We only have 50 sets, so hustle (OSU wins the tootsie pop for being the first school to register). c) NO, YOU CAN"T BUY EXTRA SETS. Don't EVEN ask. We had 55 schools attend training last year and we're going to make sure every school gets at least one set. You can send as many people from a school as you want but you still only get one set. So you have to sit close together, big deal, wear extra deodorant. d) Yes, we really are starting registration at 8:30 and the training WILL start at 9. We have a lot to cover, we need every minute. e) I'll be gone the rest of today & tomorrow, if you have trouble with the on-line registration, contact the webmaster at edew@ou.edu. But, be kind. Remember, the poor schlub is married to me. Big thanks to Herb Brubaker for coming from Arkansas to be my co-presenter and SWASFAA for sponsoring training in our region. Coincidentally these out-of-state charges (from California) started piling up after he used his bank card at the Clarion. This may just be coincidence, but we wanted you all to know in case you had charged your room also and wanted to check your account. As you will remember, OASFAA is purchasing the sets of materials from NASFAA and distributing one set to each school, with only 50 sets available. As of this morning, we have 48 schools registered (see list below). Each school will get ONE packet of materials. You can bring as many bodies as you want, but you only get one set of materials. Several schools have asked if it is possible to get their packets early. I'm working on a plan for that right now, so stay tuned. I will remind all of you that NASFAA materials are copyrighted, so I'd better not see any of these on Ebay. This includes supplemental disbursement requests and requests to reinstate cancelled awards. It would assist the OTAG staff greatly with the management of available funds if participating institutions proceed with submitting their award claims for any remaining eligible students known at this time. If you identify a few additional students, their award claims can still be submitted closer to the November 10 deadline. Your assistance and cooperation in wrapping up fall 2006 OTAG awards is appreciated. If you need a pre-populated Award Claim Form, please submit a request to reports@otag.org. *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P.
