Conversation Initiative

Message:
Dear SWASFAA Member:

At the forthcoming SWASFAA Conference in Little Rock, AR,
NASFAA is hosting a special session focused on sharing
information about the National Conversation Initiative
(NCI). The NCI project will address the role that
financial aid-and NASFAA-can play in creating a new
roadmap for success in higher education, particularly for
those most in danger of falling out of the higher
education pipeline.

This session will be held Thursday, Dec. 11 at 3:30 p.m.
at the conference hotel (The Peabody Little Rock). Room
details will be in your agenda. Specifically, we are
urging your engagement and asking you to share your
insights, ideas and suggestions about the future of
student financial aid in this country.

NASFAA's Federal Issues Committee and other stakeholders
developed a background document and policy questions
(http://www.nasfaa.org/PDFs/2008/NCI.pdf) that are
intended to bring focus and specificity to the Listening
Sessions.

We recognize that the SWASFAA Listening Session-like
others taking place across the country-is of a very
limited duration and will not allow for feedback from
everyone. Therefore, if you are unable to attend the
session, or if you'd just like to respond in writing to
all or part of the questions in the background document
(either before or after the session takes place), you may
certainly do so. NASFAA has set up a special mailbox for
that purpose. Please send all feedback on NCI to
nationalconversation at nasfaa.org by no later than January
1, 2009.

Thank you in advance for sharing your opinions on this
crucially important policy reform initiative.

Sincerely,

David Page
SWASFAA President
