Financial Aid Counselor II


Job Summary:
*         Provide financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding applying for financial assistance, including federal aid and institutional scholarships.

*         Review aid applications and determine the necessary data and/or revisions to the Financial Aid Management file.
*         Provide both on and off-campus workshops and financial aid presentations to prospective and current students, high schools and civic organizations upon request.
*         Monitor the status of aid applications and the accuracy of awards.

Qualifications:

 *   Bachelor's degree with 1 year related experience.
 *   Customer service experience in a collegiate setting.
 *   Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
 *   Ability to identify issues, investigate reasons/solutions, and develop the most efficient and effective plan of action for each individual situation.
 *   Sensitivity to the emotional nature of discussions related to finances, and the ability to balance requirements of aid programs with concepts of customer service.
 *   Ability to work effectively with students who become angry or upset.
 *   Ability to clearly communicate in a group presentation setting.


 *   Prefer candidate with Master's degree in Counseling, Student Development, Higher Education, or related field.
