[Oasfaa] Last Day to Register for the 2012 OASFAA Decentralized Training

Good Morning,

Today is the last day to register for OASFAA's upcoming Decentralized Training.

You'll want to join us for an informative day of training on two important topics.  In addition to Financial Aid staff, this training would be beneficial for certain staff in the Business Office as well as anyone serving on a Default Prevention Task Force.

The morning session will be dedicated to in depth training on Direct Loans.  This training was developed by the NASFAA Training Committee.  Attendees will be able to:

*         Ensure their institution's compliance with Direct Loan regulations,

*         Assist with reconciliation and cash management,

*         Understand cohort default rates (CDRs) and appeals to their institution's CDR

*         Understand Direct Loan servicing, and

*         Identify strategies to guide students entering repayment.

There will plenty of time allowed for discussion and for the exchange of best practice tips.

The afternoon session is designed to assist institutions in understanding, developing, and implementing Default Prevention Plans.  Topics will include:

*         Identifying who needs a Default Prevention Plan,

*         What should be included in a plan,

*         Developing a Default Prevention Task Force, and

*         Instructions for writing your own Default Prevention Plan.

We'll begin at 9:00 and conclude by 3:30.  Lunch is provided for all attendees.

There is no charge for current OASFAA members.  If your institution is not a current OASFAA member the cost is $10 per person.  If you haven't yet done it, this would be a good time to renew your OASFAA Membership!  Attached to this email is a Membership Application and a letter outlining the benefits of an OASFAA membership.
