The proposed changes are relatively minor. The primary change for each program is authorization for a full-time award during the summer semester if the student enrolls in at least 12 hours and has completed at least 24 hours in the preceding fall and spring semesters. Any summer award will count toward the student's maximum award limit of eight full-time semester awards. Attached are copies of the agenda items from the meeting today that explain the changes and contain the actual text of the changes. These proposed policy changes must go through the state's Administrative Procedures process so they will be submitted to the Legislature and the Governor in 2014. If approved by the Legislature and Governor, they could become effective around May 2014. If you have specific questions about the proposed policy changes, please contact Linette McMurtrey, the Scholarship Coordinator for these two programs at lmcmurtrey at osrhe.edu or at 405-225-9131. ONLY SPRING SEMESTER FUNDS CAN BE CLAIMED using this extended cutoff. Pre-populated Award Claim Forms generated by OTAG for Spring 2014 will include: * students who were awarded and disbursed in Fall 2013 * students who were awarded and subsequently cancelled in Fall 2013, unless they were cancelled due to a change in EFC greater than 1700 * students with award potential who were not awarded in fall but could be awarded in spring -- this group includes students with FAFSA receipt dates from 1-1-13 through 4/7/13 and EFCs of 1700 or lower. Students included in an Excel pre-populated Award Claim Form for spring will be sorted in the following order: * Awarded * Cancelled * Pending On the Excel spreadsheet Award Claim Form this status will be displayed in Column J. On the Text Award Claim Form the status will be displayed in Field #11, Position 71. As in fall Award Claim Form reporting, institutions using the pre-populated form will need to delete information for students who should not be paid in spring (even if they were paid in fall) and edit the information as appropriate (FT/PT, overawards, etc.) for the students to be paid in spring. More detailed instructions will accompany the spring pre-populated or blank template reports. If you would like to receive a "work copy" pre-populated Award Claim Form to assist you in identifying additional students who can be awarded in spring, please send a request to reports at otag.org. Please contact our office at 405.225.9456 or toll free 800.858.1840 or send e-mail to reports at otag.org if you have questions or require more information regarding spring OTAG awarding and disbursement processes. I know there are some of you who are receiving questions regarding this and want to be sure you have the text of the messages. This was an informational message and does not require them to submit anything to you or our office. If you have any questions, please let us know. Email: Hi, This is Oklahoma's Promise, the college tuition scholarship program provided through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. We wanted to make sure you are aware of two important requirements that you must meet to keep your Oklahoma's Promise (OKPromise) award in college. Effective for OKPromise college students receiving the award for the first time in 2012-13 and thereafter, a minimum college GPA of 2.00 is required for courses taken through the sophomore year and a minimum 2.50 GPA is required for courses taken during the junior year and thereafter. Students not meeting the required grade point average requirements will lose eligibility for the OKPromise award. Students are responsible for understanding how the minimum GPAs are calculated and when the award benefits will be lost. Be sure to read the details of the requirements which are located at http://www.okhighered.org/okpromise/college-faq.shtml#1. All OKPromise students in college must also meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements set by the college. If you become ineligible for federal financial aid (like Pell grants or student loans) for failure to make SAP, you will also not receive OKPromise. This requirement applies to all OKPromise students, even if the student is not currently receiving federal financial aid and regardless of the year the student started college. The SAP requirements include minimum GPA standards and minimum standards for completing courses in which the student enrolls. If you are not familiar with the SAP requirements at your college or you have specific questions, please contact the financial aid office for more details. Do you do paper or electronic Perkins prom notes? (Don't laugh. I've been trying to go electronic for years, but the current office that takes care of this function won't go for it.) 2. Which office is responsible for getting students to sign Perkins prom note and complete their entrance? 3. Which office is responsible for the reporting of Perkins to the DOE/EFSI/other third party provide? Thanks in advance for your assistance! (As you can prob tell, I'm trying to build a case to make some changes to bring us into the 21st century. :)) Jonna Raney -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
