Subject: [SWASFAA Team Chatter] Mid-Level Training registration

SWASFAA Team Chatter has posted a new item, 'Mid-Level Training registration'

Greetings, my cold and winter-weary friends!  I'd recently put a reminder on my calendar to check into swim lessons for my girls for this summer.  The stark contrast between my longing to sit by the pool, basking in the sun, and the bitter cold reality of what waits for us outside at the end of the today's workday is astounding, not to mention the snow and sleet that is marching this way.  I suppose this artic blast helps prepare those of us who are fortunate enough to travel to Washington, DC this weekend for NASFAA's Leadership and Legislative Conference and Expo.  Still, while we are praying we travel safely and are wearing about 17 layers of clothes, we are thankful for the opportunity to go.

And speaking of opportunities (I learned the art of a good segue from Andrew, if you'd like to see his previous post), let's get to the real reason for this
post:  Mid-Level Training!  Registration is now open and available.  If you would like more details about the event, and the registration information, please visit the SWASFAA Training page.

As a reminder, the Mid-Level Training Committee, comprised of me, Mendy Schmerer (OK), Brent Small (NM), Erika Cox (TX), Lisa Hopper (AR), and Katraya Williams (LA), is working diligently to provide mid-level financial aid administrators the best possibility training opportunity.  We will be presenting a packed agenda of NASFAA CORE topics, providing attendees the opportunity to test for NASFAA credentials.

Our agenda will consist of:

Tuesday, April 28:  Federal Methodology and Verification

Wednesday, April 29:  Cost of Attendance, Professional Judgment, Packaging and Notification of Awards, and Direct Loans*

Thursday, April 30:  Return of Title IV Funds* and Satisfactory Academic Progress

We are going to be very intentional with the agenda in leaving time for discussion about best practices and lessons learned, not only from the committee but from the participants as well.  Knowledge is absorbed best when there are practical applications involved, and our goal is for our attendees to leave with a head crammed full of new knowledge, new ideas to take back to the office, and the ability to pass the credential exam with flying colors!

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me at
405/271-2118 or at mendy-schmerer at ouhsc.edu.

Thanks,

Mendy
