I was assured by the Regional Office in Kansas City that the changes that we had to make to our PPA would not affect our GE Reporting. If we had any CIP codes that showed up on NSLDS that the Department thought you should have reported on, you can go in and code them as I3s To see if you have any that need adjustment go to NSLDS > ORG Tab > GE Program Tracking List and search by Award Year, Status A1, Reported by COD Yes, Reported by GE NO. [cid:image002.png at 01D117E6.02B7C550] You can then update anything that comes up on the list with an I3 - Other Status This was direction I was given by Tech Support at NSLDS and was told that it would clean up the issue immediately. Hope that helps if anyone is trying to get an issue like this cleared. View Web Version Please add MembershipUpdate at NASFAA.org to your address book. [NASFAA] Dear Mendy, On this day exactly 50 years ago, America took a giant leap forward in our efforts to address the crippling effects of poverty and inequality. When President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Higher Education Act (HEA) into law on November 8, 1965 on the campus of Texas State College, his stated purpose was to "swing open a new door for the young people of America?the door to education." The programs authorized through the HEA would be the key to unlocking that door?and in doing so changing the lives and futures of millions of Americans. We have much to celebrate on this day. Within a very short time after the HEA?s passage, the financial aid profession was solidified. Individuals across the country, such as yourselves, seized the challenge that Johnson articulated?to help ensure that no qualified student be denied access to a postsecondary education due to a lack of financial resources. Of course, financial aid has grown since 1965?probably in ways President Johnson could never have imagined. We know there are challenges to overcome as we collectively seek the best ways to serve students and ensure access and success. But on this day, let us celebrate how far we have come, together. You may have noticed that NASFAA?s logo is a graduate standing in a doorway. That?s who financial aid administrators are?we are the people who open doors. We are part of this legacy that started in 1965. The work we do is important to your students, as individuals, and to our country, as we seek to build a workforce that can compete in the global marketplace. If you haven?t seen NASFAA?s video?first aired at the 2015 NASFAA National Conference in New Orleans?on the history of the profession and the HEA, we urge you to watch it and reflect on how the work you do connects to the larger ideals set forth for our country 50 years ago. We close with a few words from President Johnson that are as relevant today as they were five decades ago when they were spoken: "I want you to go back and say to your children and to your grandchildren, and those who come after you and follow you?tell them that we have made a promise to them. Tell them that the truth is here for them to seek. And tell them that we have opened the road and we have pulled the gates down and the way is open, and we expect them to travel it." Thank you for the work you all do for students. I was afforded the opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with many whom I only get to see once or twice a year. Several times, conversations reinforced the notion that we are a family. We serve in a challenging profession, to say the least, and yet the rewards, the reasons we stay, are impossible to quantify. The challenges we face, whether they are borne out of funding, regulations and legislation, software, or administrative burdens, should spur us on to always turn toward one another for support. To seek to train one another. To provide best practices suggestions. To provide moral support. To encourage one another. To keep us all accountable to our students and our institutions. We serve a noble profession, and the idea that we are helping shape this great nation of ours, for all its flaws and missteps, through our students, is humbling, and I am honored to be a part of it. I am proud to call you friends and family. Thank you for all you do, and keep up the great work! Mendy Schmerer, M.Ed. From: NASFAA [mailto:MembershipUpdate at nasfaa.org] Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2015 8:01 AM To: Schmerer, Mendy M. (HSC) > Subject: Happy 50th Birthday HEA A message from NASFAA. In fact, the only suitcase rounding the Southwest baggage carousal was mine.? I?grabbed?the lonely?bag and made my way to my first NASFAA Board meeting as an observer. I was?a bit nervous about what to expect.? Will I stumble over my name during introductions?? Alas, no need to be nervous.??Many familiar and friendly faces; our own Andrew Hammontree and Lisa Blazer.? Whew, it is going to be ok. Along with?the four regional presidents who are also observers, we?took our seats behind the Board members, ready to take in all the discussions.??During the meeting,?I realized that we, as?financial aid professionals, are so fortunate to have NASFAA and its Board? to advocate, at the national level, ?for us and our students. Tuesday afternoon ended the meeting.? With "goodbye's" said, and a ride secured to the airport, I reflected on the past week.? A successful SWASFAA Conference, the opportunity to meet our members, sharing best practices of our field, participating in a national board meeting.....wow.? I have a feeling there will be a year full of "wow's" in 2016 for me. If you?want to experience a year full of?"wow's", please consider completing a? volunteer form.?? Volunteers are the core of SWASFAA. I look forward to 2016, meeting our members, and year full of?saying "wow'".
