URL: From bfair at osrhe.edu Fri Oct 27 17:12:55 2017 From: bfair at osrhe.edu (Fair, Bryce) Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2017 22:12:55 +0000 Subject: [Oasfaa] Proposed OKPromise policy changes Message-ID: Attached is a copy of the agenda item from the recent State Regents' meeting which proposes changes to the Oklahoma's Promise program policies to implement the legislative amendments in SB 529 from the 2017 session. The proposed changes will go through the state's Administrative Procedures process which has the following steps. * The State Regents "posted" the proposed changes on October 19. This allows the public to see the proposed changes before the State Regents take any action on the proposed changes. * There will be a period available for public comment that will end January 1, 2018. * The State Regents will likely consider action on the proposed changes at their meeting on February 1, 2018. * If approved by the State Regents, the proposed changes will be submitted to the Legislature and the Governor for their consideration during the legislative session. Most of the proposed changes simply reflect the amendments to the program in SB 529. However, one of the legislative amendments required the State Regents to set a cap on the number of credit hours for which the scholarship will pay in college. As shown in the agenda item, the State Regents are proposing a general limit of 129 credit hours with exceptions for students enrolled in degree programs that require more than 129 credit hours. The proposed cap would apply to OKPromise students graduating high school in 2018 and thereafter. You can find more details about this change in the analysis on pages 2-3 and the actual policy language on page 8. Let me know if you have any questions.
