I didn’t want this channel to sit quiet without an update for too long, so here are some details I can share for now… 1. After attending NASFAA and making some new friends, the listserv has grown to over 100 people! But there’s still room for more – feel free to share the subscription email join-facommunicators at lists.wisc.edu to anyone you feel may benefit from this group. 2. The FA Communicators survey is still up and accepting response, so if you haven’t yet – take a moment to respond at https://goo.gl/forms/EgLthOGNaAFVwwwm1. You’ll all have access to the responses to learn about who’s a member of this group and what some of their biggest communications struggles are – we’ll get through them together! 3. Coming Soon - FA Communicators Google Drive! A place to share documents, resources, have topic-specific moderated conversations, etc. 4. Do you Twitter? If you’re interested in starting conversations via Twitter I strongly recommend the use of both the #FAChat and #FAComm hashtags. But, don’t wait for me! If there’s something you’d like to get talking about right away – feel free to start using facommunicators at lists.wisc.edu as you need to! And as always, let me know if you have any questions in the meantime. [Machine generated alternative text: (w)] Karla A. Rob was a mainstay in the profession for years. His last stop was as Director at the University of Houston where he served with distinction until his retirement. He was truly one of those people that never met a stranger. It was a lot of fun presenting with him at association meetings because regardless of the subject we tried to keep it as light and entertaining as possible and, as you know, with financial aid topics that was not always easy! The OASFAA organization, its members and the list serve are great ways to get assistance with questions and scenario's as well as talk you off the ledge on a rough day. I would encourage all new and established members to use all the resources OASFAA has available to offer you. Not only can you get your questions answered here on the list serve, but as members of OASFAA you are able to send support staff to specialized training, decentralized training and the OASFAA conference which will be held in Tulsa this year, April 10-12, 2019. Some of these trainings are free to members and/or offered at a reduced rate. I encourage all of you who are not already involved in preparing for the OASFAA conference to volunteer. We have several committees that could still use some help. If you are interested in serving on a committee and getting your foot in the door of this awesome organization please send me your name, contact information and the committee you would like to serve on. The committees' are as follows: Site Selection, Entertainment, Local Arrangements and Program (everyone should take a turn on the program committee because this is your chance to let us know what sessions you would be interested in and to introduce yourself to those people who can present those sessions). Once I get your information I will definitely pass it on to the Committee Chairs. Chairs please contact new volunteers as soon as possible to get them involved. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. I hope to see all of you in April in Tulsa. My cell number is (405) 627-0738, my work number is below and I am more than happy and willing to visit with any/all of you at any time. Thank you for your interest in what OASFAA has to offer and for sharing this email with others who might not be members!
