SWASFAA Friends,

Good morning! I hope all of you are having a wonderful week.

The SWASFAA Conference, Boot Camp and Mid-Level Registrations are open and
agendas provided: https://swasfaa.org/docs/conferences/site/index.html.
We are excited to welcome Justin Draeger, NASFAA President and CEO; Lori
Vedder, NASFAA National Chair; and Kevin Campbell, U.S. Department of
Education Training Officer for “SWASFAA Relays: On Track for Success”.
Just a reminder, the hotel cut off is today.

Thank you to TASFAA for a great conference last week in Galveston, TX.
Thank you for sharing your great conference, networking, friendship and
your FUN events. The sessions I attended had one common, consistent
theme. Everything you do and why you do what you do centers around putting
the student first whether it be regulatory, reporting, communication,
taking care of yourself and your staff, asking the tough questions,
advocating, or doing the right things. On behalf of SWASFAA thank you for
all you do for your students, parents, schools and your association.

I am looking forward to the AASFAA conference this week in Hot Springs,
AR. I have never been to Hot Springs. I am hoping to have some time
Wednesday afternoon to visit Hot Springs National Park. I did not realize
the State of Arkansas contains six national park sites, two-and-a half
million acres of national forests, seven national scenic byways, three
state scenic byways, and 50 state parks.

SWASFAA’s next Board of Directors meeting will be held during the
conference in November beginning after lunch on Tuesday, November 6th, and
continuing Wednesday morning, November 7th. All SWASFAA members are
invited to attend.

SWASFAA has made arrangements for members to visit the William J. Clinton –
Presidential Library and Museum Wednesday, November 7th, beginning at 5:30
p.m.. Transportation will be provided. More information can be found at:
https://www.clintonlibrary.gov/

Journey to Little Rock – 1,156 miles, 213 miles to go. On my virtual map I
just went through Monroe, LA and heading north to Little Rock!! I think I
am going to make it. I am on the down stretch. Where are you on your
journey?

Have a wonderful week! Next Wednesday, October 17th, is Financial Aid
Day. How are your offices celebrating?

Shannon Crossland
2018 SWASFAA President
