The Southern Oklahoma Technology Center in Ardmore will be hosting a Crime
on Campus:  Compliance, Liability, and Safety  Teleconference sponsored by
The University of Vermont on Monday, April 23rd  from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.  

The teleconference will feature an interactive discussion with 4 national
experts and will be extremely beneficial to financial aid personnel,
administrators, and security officers.

Good Afternoon,

Most schools have received today an OTAG Confirmation Report which reflects
not only any new spring-only awards, but also any applicants remaining with
funds committed but not yet disbursed by OTAG.  Many of these applicants
have continued to appear on Confirmation Reports since the beginning of the
spring 2001 semester.  Please realize that OTAG continues to hold fund
commitments for all applicants identified on your Confirmation Report.

At this time we need your cooperation in either requesting funds (by
indicating "ready to disburse") for ALL students reflected in your current
Confirmation Report or in reporting cancellations for these students by
entering "IN" in the enrollment status column/field.  

Please be sure to address the enrollment status of EACH student listed in
your Confirmation Report.  We appreciate your assistance and cooperation in
helping us identify available funds.  In general, we need to know at the
earliest opportunity if an award commitment should be canceled.

Good Afternoon One More Time,

Please be reminded that 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2001, is the FINAL
deadline for receipt of updates requesting transfers, reinstatements, or
supplemental disbursements for PREVIOUSLY AWARDED 2000-2001 applicants.  No
additional NEW awards will result from updates received for students not
previously awarded OTAG in 2000-2001.  

Folks, we're serious about 5:00 p.m. on April 30 being the deadline.  We
need to close out 2000-2001 disbursement activity and move on with processes
for the new award year.  Thank you for your cooperation in assisting us to
bring 2000-2001 OTAG activity to a close.

If you have outstanding Disbursement Reports, please finalize them as soon
as possible and be sure to submit your reports completed with the Accounting
of Funds to the OTAG office as soon as possible.  If you have checks payable
to students that need to be adjusted, exchanged, or a supplement requested,
you will need to do so in time to meet the April 30 deadline.

If you are interested in receiving name and SSN listings inclusive of ALL of
your fall 2000 or spring 2001 OTAG disbursement activity in order to balance
with the amounts current OTAG records reflect, please submit your request to
reports@otag.org or call 405.234.4356 or toll free 1.877.661.6231.  At this
time we can only offer this information in paper format.  We will be working
with our MIS staff to be able to provide this information in ftp and excel
spreadsheet format in the future.

Please share this deadline information with all staff who may be responsible
for submitting updates to OTAG.  We encourage that all staff members who
work with the OTAG program be subscribed to the OASFAA list serv.  Please
let us know if we can be of assistance in getting any of your staff members
subscribed.

as we have implemented the new processes for OTAG in this initial year.  We

Hello everyone. For those of you familiar with the Distance Education
regulations, I am seeking your interpretation of the 50% rule. At Clarkson
College, we have classes that are completed over the Internet and with
audio/video tapes. They are the same time frame and course content as the
classes taught on campus. I have been told over the past few years that if
we have either more that 50% of our total classes taught by distance or more
than 50% of our students taking at least one class by distance education, we
would lose our federal funding. Also, our auditors have always looked to
make sure both our numbers were under 50%.? I have a higher administrator
who says that this interpretation is incorrect. He believes that we would
have to meet both criteria in order to lose funding. I'm hoping some of you
out there have some expertise in this area and can guide me to the correct
interpretation. If I'm wrong, I just want some information to readjust what
I've been taught. If I am right, then I'd like use your information to back
up my position.? 

I greatly appreciate any assistance you can give. Attached is the distance
