We adjusted the OTAG award cutoff date to take into consideration the additional funding available this year, but it now appears that we may be able to extend the date past the current cutoff of May 4. However, before we can proceed we must be confident that we have awarded the majority of eligible students meeting the current awarding criteria including the May 4 cutoff. Attached for your information is a document that reflects a by-school comparison of OTAG awards paid in the 2000-2001 award year and current awards for the 2001-2002 award year. Many schools will notice that their 2001-2002 numbers are down from last year, some significantly. We wonder if it is possible that there may still be many students meeting the current award criteria (cutoff date of May 4, 2001) that could be considered for awards if their "packaged" status were reported to OTAG, and we ask that you take another look at your applicant pool to determine if this is the case for your school. While the next Eligibility Status Report is not scheduled until November 15, we will be issuing an additional report cycle this week for all schools to provide a means for collecting reporting for additional potential awardees. Please contact the OTAG office if you have questions about this additional Eligibility Status Report cycle or if we can be of assistance to you. <> *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P. You're smart people, you'll figure it out. When you get to Norman, take Highway 9 East, exit NORTH at Chautauqua. Yes, that is the Norman sewage treatment plant you smell. Lovely, isn't it? Follow Chautauqua to Timberdell Road and turn right onto Timberdell. (You'll pass the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History on Chautauqua, a lovely spot to visit after the videoconference.) At the stop sign at the corner of Asp & Timberdell (see the OU swimming pool?), turn LEFT. Stop gawking at the pool, the coeds rarely wear their bikinis outside at this time of year. Then, turn left again into the OCCE parking lot. The Forum building is the six sided building with the three wings & antennas on top. No, it is not a big brick bug. There should be plenty of parking around OCCE. Yes, you can exit at Lindsey, drive thru Mickey D's and turn south at Chautauqua or Asp and get there just as easily. But, then you get tangled up in the dormitory area and don't get to admire our beautiful museum. Do it my way....trust me. For those of you who are more visual, check out the OU campus map at http://www.ou.edu/visitorcenter/campusmap.html#map The OCCE Forum Building is Building #46. Currently, when the first disbursement of a loan is cancelled, all subsequent disbursements are cancelled. Following this system change, when a disbursement-level cancellation is made, all remaining disbursements will remain active. This will be in effect for all disbursement-level cancellation requests including those received from NetWizard, WhizKid, Statuschanges e-mail or phone/fax requests. Loan-level cancellations will still result in all disbursements of the loan being cancelled. Forms, processes, and products impacted include OGSLP's internal online and batch processes, and the "LFM Return of Funds Checklist". Also, the NetWizard Guarantee Disbursement and Servicing Data (GDSD) Disbursement Changes page is being modified to include a check box to be marked if a school would like to cancel all remaining disbursements. The results of these changes to existing edits are listed below: -- Schools will be able to cancel a first disbursement of a loan without canceling remaining disbursements. (Example: Original loan has 2 scheduled disbursements. If a school requests only the first disbursement to be cancelled, the second disbursement will remain active.) -- Schools will not be held to the process of loan disbursements being made in the same order as originally guaranteed. (Example: Loan originally has 2 disbursements. School cancels first disbursement. Following the second disbursement, a school could now choose to reinstate the first, even though the date of the 2nd disbursement precedes the first. -- The Disbursement Roster Report, the Lender Disbursement Notification Report, and the CommonLine Disbursement File are being changed to denote an indicator for the "actual" first disbursement within a loan. However, the sequence number field will not change. Therefore, dependent upon the change you request, you may receive an 02 disbursement prior to receiving an 01. As always, we hope this flexibility enhances your ability to deliver loan proceeds in a manner that works well for you. If you have any questions, please contact a Client Relations representative. Molly comes to us from the University of Oklahoma where she was Assistant Director of Systems and Operations in Financial Aid Services for many years. She will start here on November 5th, 2001 and we are very excited for her arrival! WELCOME MOLLY!! We at OU just wanted to take some time to make sure you all know how lucky OCU is get her. And, HOW MUCH OU WILL MISS HER!!!!! Molly is "retiring" from OU on Friday, November 2 and taking a well deserved vacation (well, OK, the WHOLE WEEKEND) before starting her new career with OCU on Monday, November 5. We know the OCU staff and students will be in very good hands and Molly will have an opportunity to really shine in this new position. Molly has been with OU Financial Aid Services for over 20 years, and has both spearheaded and shepherded us through more change than I care to think about. We've gone from antique CRTs and a whole lotta paper to a place that I couldn't even have imagined when I started here 17 years ago. All those neat things we brag about that we have at OU to help us help students? By and large, those were MOLLY's ideas and HER direction & effort that put them into place. She built the car, we just get to drive around & wave while she makes us look good. Yes, we still have a lotta paper, but not for lack of Molly trying to get rid of it! BUT, we swear, as OASFAA is our witness, we WILL have document imaging up & running before Adam, her 7 month old grandson, enrolls at OU! So, at OASFAA this week, we hope you'll all take the opportunity to meet Molly if you don't know her, and congratulate her on her new opportunity. We're awfully proud to have her as a colleague if not a co-worker, we wish her well, and we'll REALLY MISS HER!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS, MOLLY!!!! Pam McConahay Asst Dir., Compliance & Support Svcs University of Oklahoma Financial Aid Services pmcconahay@ou.edu P.S. I know what you're all thinking: "Shouldn't Matt Hamilton have written this? What's up with that?" You are all such a bunch of gossipy nosy parkers. I should know....I'm the worst of the bunch. Well, yeah, I suppose, technically Matt should have, if you're hung up on protocol & stuff like that. But, when he talked about it, I really wanted to do it, so he let me (I'm lying...I beat him unmercifully until he gave in). Besides, I think he figured I'd do it anyway even if he said no. AND, I'd have been funnier than him. He's right on both counts.
