Just a reminder that we'll be holding a scramble golf tournament on Tuesday afternoon, April 2 in Tulsa. It doesn't matter if you play golf regularly or not, it only matters that you want to get outside and enjoy a day of fun with some of your colleagues. We'll be forwarding some additional information to you soon, but plan to join us that afternoon. We'll be putting teams together for the scramble event, so that means you can just show up and not have to worry about being any good or not since there'll be a full team of you to make the shots! We'll need to know by March 22 if you want to play so we can make proper arrangements with the golf course. We'll probably get started around 12:30 on the 2nd and play 18 holes that afternoon. Again, I hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you in Tulsa at the OASFAA Conference. -Ron Hancock President, OASFAA Golf Association (no, there's not really an OASFAA Golf Association, but it sounded kinda cool) From sjoyner at otag.org Wed Mar 13 13:28:41 2002 From: sjoyner at otag.org (Joyner, Shiela) Date: Tue Mar 23 20:21:50 2004 Subject: [Oasfaa] New Awards 2001-2002 Message-ID: <67B1776185FFD311926100805FC11F9D019F8AAF@HANDEL> Good Afternoon, As a result of spring disbursement cancellations exceeding our expectations, we find that we have a limited amount of funds available for additional 2001-2002 awards. At this point in the year, all awards approved will be for the spring semester only, with no commitments being made for the past fall semester. If you have already submitted updates for some of your students, those updates have been entered into the OTAG database, and awards are being processed today for those who meet the eligibility and awarding cutoff criteria. Later this week we will issue new Eligibility Status Reports for all schools to provide an opportunity to report updates for students potentially eligible for these additional awards. We will process all updates and returned Eligibility Status Reports received in the OTAG office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29. Since we have no way of predicting what the responses from schools will be and whether or not we will have sufficient funds to cover all students reported eligible for these additional awards, please be advised we will process awards using the following familiar criteria in the following order: 1. Renewal applicants with receipt dates of April 30 or earlier and EFCs at any level up to the maximum 4900 AND renewal applicants with receipt dates of April 30 or earlier who do not qualify at any level under the EFC formula but do qualify at any level under the alternate EFI formula 2. Non-renewal applicants with receipt dates of April 30 or earlier and EFCs from 0 through 1500 3. If funds remain available after awarding eligible students meeting 1 and 2 above, eligible applications received after April 30 will be considered on a daily basis with priority given to renewal applications followed by non-renewal applications with 0 EFC followed by 1-500 EFC, followed by 501-1000 EFC, followed by 1001-1500 EFC. To date we have funded all eligible applications received through May 15, 2001. We will continue to process new awards after the March 29 reporting cutoff as funds either remain available or become available through additional cancellations. Please contact the OTAG office at 405.225.9456 or toll free at 877.662.6231 or send e-mail to reports@otag.org if you have questions or need additional information concerning the Eligibility Status Report or additional award approval processes. *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P. Some schools still have significant numbers of awarded students for whom they have not either requested spring semester funds or reported a reason for cancellation. At this point in the semester with drop and add period over, we are trusting that it can easily be determined whether or not a student should receive the OTAG funds committed to them. We ask that you either request funds by reporting "ready to disburse" or report a reason for cancellation as soon as possible. If you are processing an Excel spreadsheet report, be sure to enter "Y" in the update column when reporting a cancellation. We thank you for your assistance and cooperation in helping us to identify uncommitted funds that can be awarded to other eligible students. Please contact our office if you have questions or need assistance concerning OTAG Confirmation Report processing. *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P. I have a situation which I have never experienced before. I have a student who's SAR, with a valid EFC, was received during the fall semester; however it was selected for verification. She is currently enrolled in the spring semester and has finally supplied all of the necessary documents to complete the verification process. The corrections made during the verification process have decreased her EFC, therefore increasing her Pell Grant eligibility. Here's my question. Would she be eligible for the increased Pell for both Fall and Spring semesters, or would I have to use the higher EFC for the Pell award? The Student Financial Aid Handbook talks about the 90 day verification extension after a student's last day of attendance and the fact that a SAR received during the 90 days can't be used to increase a student's Pell. However, she is currently attending. Any assistance I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tammy Kasterke St. Gregory's University 1900 W MacArthur Drive Shawnee, OK 74804 From tckasterke at sgc.edu Fri Mar 15 15:11:18 2002 From: tckasterke at sgc.edu (Tammy C. It's unanimous, I will pay her on the corrected EFC for both semesters. This was the way I was leaning towards, but just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks again for all of your assistance.
