Message-ID: <5E578181F9B1D61198920002B35B373233EEF2@mail1.oulan.ou.edu> Ah, the hint of fall in the air. Yes, it's time again for the DOXIE DERBY!!! Second Chance Animal Sanctuary in Norman is sponsoring their annual DOG DAY event on Saturday, September 21st at Reeves Park in Norman. There are many different events during the day, but MY favorite is the Doxie Derby at noon. You'll never see more dachshunds in one place at one time! Yes, racing wieners from all around, all long, all low, all hilarious to watch. If you haven't seen it before, it's a HOOT. Last year, Twinkie Ratliff of Weatherford retired after an unprecedented THREE PEAT winning the Derby. My dog Bismarck came in second! Unfortunately, we won't be in attendance this year. My niece is getting married on Saturday in Lawton and for some reason, the family thinks attending her wedding is more important than the Derby. So, if you're interested in Dog Day or the Derby in particular, I encourage you to go. Complete details, including a registration form with the schedule of events, is available on the Second Chance website at www.secondchanceok . I hope OASFAA is represented and you all have a great time!! Pam McConahay Asst. The problem affects only messages sent to us; we continue to be able to send messages. Any e-mail messages you may have sent since late Monday, September 16 to our reports@otag.org mailbox or any other OTAG mailbox have not been received by OTAG. We initially were informed that the messages not received were in a queue on the mail server and we would receive them once the mail system became operational; however we have now been advised by our IT staff that WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER ANY MESSAGES SENT TO US since late Monday. At this time we are still not operational, and we ask that you discontinue sending messages containing student updates and Excel reports until we advise you that our Internet mail is again operational. Once we are again operational, we will post another message to the list serv, and at that time we will have to ask you to send again any messages or reports that you sent during this down time. If your school processes ftp reports, we can continue to pick up those reports from the server. Instead of sending an e-mail message, please call the OTAG office at 405.225.9456 or toll free 1.877.662.6231 to alert us that you have placed a file on the server for pick up. We apologize for the inconvenience, and are committed to processing the backlog of reports and updates as quickly as possible once we are again able to receive them. If you should have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. *********************** Shiela Joyner, Director Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant Program Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education P. O. We have tried a couple of different methods and have had problems with each. * Do you assign jobs? If so, is this done through the financial aid office or a career center? This is the way we used to do it and the students and supervisor's were never happy because the skill set was not a good match among other things. * Do you award work-study to anyone who requests it and is eligible? This is the way do it now. Though we do tell the students it is not a guarantee and tell them we award more money than we have jobs, parents still come up mad when they can't find a job and were counting on it. * Do you award work-study to anyone who requests it and is eligible and put a deadline on it? This would seem to be the ideal method. The problem we have with this is supervisor's often want to hire the same students they had from previous years and if a student (for any number of reasons) does not get their paperwork done on time, adjustments would have to be made to their federal funding, etc. * Other ideas???? Thanks in advance for your input. Missi Bryant Director Student Financial Services 405-425-5190
