COORDINATOR OF STUDENT FINANCIAL AID

This is a full-time position that is primarily responsible for the implementation and coordination of awarding outside agency aid, institutional scholarships and performance grants.  Additionally, this coordinator will implement, maintain, and monitor the student employment programs.  This individual will report directly to the Director of Student Financial Aid and be responsible for:
                        
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.  Recording financial awarding information in the administrative computing system for each student receiving financial assistance from an outside agency.
2.  Coordinating the payment and billing of outside agency aid with the Business Office.
3.  Retrieving scholarship and grant award information from campus departments and recording the awards in the administrative computing system.
4.  Serving as the point of contact for students with regard to general scholarship information.
5.  Maintaining and distributing scholarship information to students, parents and general public.
6.  Requesting and maintaining job opening information from campus departments.
7.  Developing and maintaining a student job availability database and a placement system for referring students to departments with openings.
8.  Monitoring federal and campus work program budgets.
9.  Coordinating placement of students in the America Reads/America Counts program.
10. Meeting with students and their families to assist them in completing the financial aid process.
11. Adjusting student award amounts and/or the amount of aid transmitted to
the student's account, as requested.
12. Viewing student application information using the Department of Education's EDExpress software and making corrections to data as needed.
13. Attending annual training events to remain up-to-date with regard to institutional, state and federal regulations and processes.
14. Preparing a monthly report regarding outside agency, institutional aid and student employment program activities.
15. Attending office staff meetings and reporting on status of programs.

CONSULTING TASKS
1.  Assisting in the verification of student aid applications.
2.  Assisting with issuing payment deferments to students.
3.  Representing the Student Financial Aid Office at on and off-campus events and workshops.
4.  Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Supervising the process of obtaining employment documents from students, including time sheets.
2.  Monitoring and training staff performing duties associated with the student employment program, institutional aid, or outside agency aid awarding.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1.  Proficiency using EDExpress software and Campus America (Poise) computer system preferred.
2.  Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, e-mail and internet preferred.
3.  Ability to work with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups required.
4.  Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines required.
5.  Willingness to work overtime hours during enrollment peak times required.
6.  Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.  Visual ability sufficient to operate computer.
2.  Hearing ability sufficient to communicate by telephone and in person.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1.  Bachelor's degree required.
2.  Minimum of two years experience in a student financial aid position preferred.

SALARY:         $26,417 - $28,000 per year plus fringe benefits
