If you're interested, please contact me. A description of the workshop materials is listed below: "Treatment of Resources and Packaging Considerations" For many financial aid administrators, the impact of non-Title IV assistance on a student's eligibility for Title IV assistance can be a puzzle. What special considerations, if any, must an institution make when awarding and disbursing non Title IV resources? Is the resource need-based or non-need based assistance? Should the award be included as estimated financial aid or is the award income that should be included in the calculation of the EFC for the next award year? NASFAA's Fall 2002 Workshop Series will examine the challenges institutions face when awarding and disbursing non-Title IV and Title IV resources. The training materials will assist financial aid administrators in answering many of the questions surrounding the administration of student financial aid funds. This workshop will: ? Clarify the usage of statutory, regulatory and IRS terminology when identifying different resources; ? Examine operational strategies when packaging non-Title IV resources; ? Identify compliance issues when packaging non-Title IV and Title IV resources; ? Discuss strategies for resolving potential overawards; and ? Discuss communication between the financial aid office and academic departments and the business office. What You Will Learn: ? The importance of how to identify various types of non-Title IV financial assistance ? The impact of non-Title IV assistance on a student's eligibility for Title IV assistance ? The challenges and ethical issues institutions face when awarding and disbursing non-Title IV assistance ? The issues involved in developing approaches to operational strategies when packaging non-Title IV resources What You Will Receive: A Participant's Handout containing: ? Resource Charts ? If a student takes an ATB test and meets the minimum requirements, is there a maximum length of time in which the student is eligible for aid or is it indefinite? I have heard that the student is eligible for 1 calendar year only and then must have HS diploma or GED to keep eligibility. Thanks in advance for all responses William M. Brindle William M. SWB is telling us that hopefully the lines will be back up and working again by noon on Wednesday, November 27th. An email will be sent out to the Listserve when service has been restored. In the interim, please call my office phone (888-456-3700) if you need assistance. You will receive the voicemail that I am on vacation (which I am!) but I will check my messages regularly until SWB restores service to the center. I apologize for any inconvenience and wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Janet Dehnert Nelnet PO Box 2754 Edmond, OK 73083-2754 888-456-3700 janet.dehnert@nelnet.net
