<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Below is the most current legislative update. Yesterday, Feb. 28, was the deadline for bills to be passed out of committee in their house of origin.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Of the OKPromise bills, four are still alive. HB 1721, which would lower the second family income check, has passed out of committee and is pending action on the House floor.
This is one the we are following very closely and which could possibly have a significant impact. The current version of the bill would lower the second income check from $100,000 to $75,000 (a 3% reduction in each incoming college freshmen class of OKPromise
students). A proposed amendment has been filed for possible consideration on the House floor to lower the second income check limit to $60,000 (a 10% reduction). As originally passed in the first subcommittee action on the bill, the second income check limit
was set at $50,000 (an 18% reduction). We’ll let you know when there is further action on the bill.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">OKPromise Impact by Legislative District: Our agency has created information sheets for each individual House and Senate member showing some OKPromise data specific to their
district – number of 2012 high school seniors that earned the scholarship, number of 8<sup>th</sup>-12<sup>th</sup> grade students enrolled in the program from the schools in their district, number of award recipients at colleges or universities in or near
their district. The information sheets are available on the State Regents website (list by the legislator’s name) at

Representative Murphey offered a committee substitute that directs the State CIO to place certain financial information on data.ok.gov. The State CIO should make public a month-to-month accounting of each fund and account in which state monies are kept. This data should include the name of the fund, state agency which utilizes the fund and the amount of expenditures from the fund occurring in each month. The site should also include a listing of exception requests from mandatory statewide purchasing contracts, disposition of each exception request, the state agency requesting the exception and identification of the contract and specific item for which the exception was requested.
